Greetings, everyone. This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today. This afternoon, I will be reviewing Sony's Morbius--a.k.a, one of the most iconic movies of all time. It absolutely amazed me at the amount of effort and hard work they put into this film and demonstrated the amount of diligence they put into the script and in the production of the movie. The acting, the writing, the cinematography, the soundtrack, and the plot were all created in a manner that testified of the greatness of the mighty Sony Pictures. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the most movie that contains both quality and quantity. A HUMONGOUS, RAMPAGING DUMPSTER FIRE.

The fact that people are memeing this movie to death with satire remarks about it being "the most movie experience" or "greatest movie of the decade" speaks volumes of how utterly worthless this movie really is. This is about a guy who turns into a vampire from vampire bat bites and uses that said power to help save people who are dying from a rare blood disorder. Of course, he was played by the infamous Jared Leto. First, he did a horrible job of playing one of the most iconic super-villains and the best overall villain of all time in the worst DC live-action movie and has then terribly played a character I know little to nothing about in possibly one of the worst Sony/Marvel movies of all time. That guy just can't catch a break, huh?

It is very hard for me to like this movie, even in the slightest. There is nothing note-worthy or even remotely good about this garbage can. The visuals were sloppily edited, and the cinematography was so terrible that it made the CG animated fight scenes visually incomprehensible. The acting was just so sub-bar and unsurprisingly dull. Not a single actor or actress were able to make their dialogue or story slightly interesting whatsoever. They seemed like they wanted to be some place else or realized just how boring this really is. The score composed by Jon Ekstrand for this film was overall forgettable as well.

The twist villain was not even necessary for this movie, and it was really no surprise to me since I have unfortunately gotten used to twist villains who show themselves in their reveal scenes with the standard "I was the villain all along!" speech. Tyrese Gibson was so wasted in this soulless cash-grab; it felt like the filmmakers had no idea what to do with his character and wanted to randomly include him because......reasons. He had no purpose in the story at all and served no purpose either. He did absolutely nothing which makes me wonder why he was in this movie at all.

To add insult to injury and as the final WTF moment, they had the audacity to bring Vulture into Morbius's universe just to set up some possible Sinister Six formation in the future. First off, that makes no sense whatsoever because that is not how Doctor Strange's magic works. How is it that Vulture was taken from Tom Holland's Spider-Man universe and was brought to a completely different world? What?! It only made sense in No Way Home because it involved alternate Spider-Man villains from other dimensions. The post credits made it so illogical. And how did he obtain his Vulture flight gear if he was in his prison clothes in a different world?

If this doesn't prove just how desperate and creatively bankrupt Sony is, I don't know what else will. This gets a 0/10. As I said before, I am hoping that Sony never makes a movie like this ever again, but at this point, they will stop at nothing. Morbius? More like, More-BS!

Peace.

Waste of theater money

Least we got good memes out of it.

I haven’t seen the movie in its entirety, same with Venom and its sequel. Personally though, I’m blaming executive meddling for this movie’s unfortunate fate. I mean, the first two trailers told a very different story and tone than the movie itself. Only good things (in my opinion) were the fight scenes between Morbius and Hunger, the climatic final battle, the ending where Morbius flies away with a massive flock of bats and Martine revealing she’s now become a Living Vampire too, and the long-awaited confirmation of the Sinister Six getting their own movie at last (even though Spider-Man: No Way Home technically gave us the closest thing to that). Still, with how much everybody is bashing the SSU for not focusing on Spider-People and only starring anti-heroes and other characters related to Spider-Man, I’m starting to wonder if they would have preferred if the SSU was one of the only universes where EVERYBODY who has become the Web-Slinging, Wall Crawling, Friendly Neighborhood hero shared the same world (Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Miguel O’Hara, etc).

I haven't seen this movie nor do I have any intention to. The biggest reasons for why are because of the inconsistencies with Vulture and the fact that the movie didn't look like something great or important from the trailers alone.

When you think about it more, the film's lack of significance or importance is exactly why it's gotten such a harsh reputation in the first place. Especially to where it could easily be declared non-canon with just the snap of the fingers.

The only thing I'm really interested in right now is seeing Morbius become the newest foe for Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man. I wouldn't mind seeing if Jared Leto could perhaps top his performance too, along with the MCU version being a different incarnation of the character.

Having just watched it July 2 2022; I thought the movie wasn't bad as it took a different look on vampire characters. Save for the Blade movies; no character struggles with the idea of having to drink blood. At least here; Morbius has the conflict of whether or not to give in.
