Question Martial Arts · 8:49pm May 4th, 2022
I won't say why I'm asking this but the answer may greatly help me.
In martial arts, for the ones who know, what happens if you attack directly the core? Like, we know of these attacks that allow to hit the pressure points all over the body which can cause partial or total paralysis and, I guess, terrible pain. So, what about the core?
Think of pressure points as something like the poorly-protected arm nerve commonly called the funny bone, and your core as the brain. The latter is sufficiently well-protected that just getting to the point where you can hit it would kill most people anyway.
(Disclaimer: not a martial artist, but then again hitting pressure points on purpose in anything resembling a real fight isn't something that real people can do consistently.)

Okay, thanks. So I guess that a Pokémon move targeting the core wouldn't work.
Horn Drill arguably qualifies. Because, again, you have to get all of the meaty bits out of the way either before you do it or as part of the attack.
You could also probably do it as a Ghost-type move, phasing into their body and directly punching their vital organs. Still basically a OHKO move and generally more brutal than you were thinking, though.

Yikes. Yeah.
