    Some books I love

I haven't produced much content lately. Just not feeling "pony." Been working on some space opera I might post to Royal Road or Amazon or something someday.

In light of my recent lack of content, have some of my favorite books:

Kid: We learned about "SPQR" in ancient Rome.

    Me: Romanes eunt domes!

    Wife: What?

    Me: Don't worry about it.

    Always worth a re-read

I just re-read, for the sixth or eighth time, one of my all time favorite books:
Neptune's Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal, James D. Hornfischer

Emilia Romagna: after the race · 4:35pm Apr 24th, 2022

Holy cow, what a race! The wet start was exciting (and dangerous). I feel terrible for Ferrari: a did-not-finish and a P6 at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari? That's gotta hurt. Very glad to see Lando (a future world champion, mark my words) get P3 and Magnusson in the points again, although I had hoped Haas (being the only American team on the grid) would do better.

I also wanted to see Bottas beat Russell. Nothing against Russell, per se, but Bottas has personality and I like him and there's a lot of schadenfreude with Bottas being ahead of Russell.

Needless to say, super stoked to see Red Bull take P1-P2. Like I said last blog, Red Bull will podium any time they finish, it's reliability more than the other cars that are limiting them this year. Max has five starts (four grands prix and a sprint) and three wins and two DNFs. That's pretty convincing.

Two weeks and it's racing in Miami! Super excited and super sad I can't afford to go in person.

Quoting my predictions blog:

  1. Red Bull (Currently: 2)
  2. Ferrari (Currently: 1)
  3. Mercedes (Currently: 3)
  4. McLaren (Currently: 4)
  5. Alpine (Currently: 6)
  6. AlphaTauri (Currently: 7)
  7. Haas (Currently: 8)
  8. Aston Martin (Currently: 9)
  9. Alfa Romeo (Currently: 5) (!)
  10. Williams (RIP) (Currently: 10)
