magic what is it? well in part it's a translation error as your world languages are foreign to the idea, you do not have a word for it. in truth, it's the fifth fundamental force of nature. The thing your people have been missing this entire time. The five fundamental forces and how they govern the form function of reality and when harnessed, how one can influence and govern their own reality.

Thaumaturgy is  the study of these energies and how they influence and govern reality and when harnessed how one can  influence and govern their own reality

Magic is the fifth fundamental force of nature that permeates the entire universe. The other four fundamental forces of nature (gravity, electromagnetism, strong nuclear force, and weak nuclear force) are responsible for the behavior of matter and energy, but this fifth force, magic, is distinct from them.
