I'm in the midst of celebrating the Feast of Unleavened Bread, (I'm not jewish. I am a christian who believes in both sides of the Bible.) and of course, a few days ago, we celebrated Passover.

Passover is significant of two occasions: When God spared the israelites in egyot when they put the lamb's blood on their doorposts, so their firstborns would not be killed, and the second, being when Jesus became the true Passover lamb, and was slain in our place, to take our sins away. When we apply his blood to our lives (our doorposts), then God's wrath passes over us, and we are spared.
Has anyone ever told you that salvation is free? It is only half true. It is free on our part. All we have to do, is accept it and turn from our sins, and we are saved from God's righteous wrath and judgement for our rebellion of Him. But, it was not free on God's part.

God is our judge. That means... and put this into a real setting of being in a courtroom with a judge, and you are the defendant...The sentence is given, and you are sentenced to death for your crimes. The judge however, cannot bear the fact that you will have to die, and so, the Judge stands up and, shocking everyone, says "the defendant will not die, because I myself am going to take this sentence. The defendant will live, and I will die in his place."

See, salvation is free for you. But it was not free for God. It cost Him everything. The Bible says that everything was made by Christ and for him. That means that Jesus was the one who walked with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. The feet that were nailed to a wooden stake were the same feet that walked with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. He is the creator of everything. He is God, and he is the Son of God. This goes beyond our understanding, because we only have a human mind. It boggles us to even think that God never had a beginning. He was just always there.

The same God who made everything in existance, and is perfect in every way, could not bear to be apart from you for all eternity. Because that is what the consequences of sin are. Eternal separation from God. God couldn't bear that thought, so He came here in our form, throwing off His immortality, so that He could die our death for us. No simple death either, just look up what a roman scourging was. The Bible doesn't say "He shed his blood" for no reason. He loves you more than you could ever imagine. He can't bear the thought of being apart from you forever.

See...this is what sets being a christian apart from every religion there is on this earth...in every religion, it is about us earning our way to heaven. But YHWH is the only God to love His creation of mankind so dearly, that He would take our own punishment and death on Himself. Salvation costs us nothing. But it cost God everything. He loves you. All He wants from us, is to love Him back.
