State of the Pen

It's been 10 days since my brother died and 6 since we laid him to rest at the foot of a willow tree near a shady stream. I find myself both functional and numb. I can act, react, and do things, but anything beyond the basics is like trying to push fog with your hands. Something happens but not much. No reading corner this weekend.

My grandfather passed away yesterday, being the last of my living grandparents.

He was a good man and lived a long life. He was, among other things: A husband, father, warrior, businessman, diplomat, and a world traveller who loved his small home town on the north coast of British Columbia. He was all the many and contrary things that I feel someone should strive to be in life. I'm already missing him.
