In this alternate 1,000 years later scenario, this is what would have happened if Starlight would have won in the season five finale and created a present where she became Celestia's protege and ultimately an Alicorn princess. When Starlight first took over for Celestia and Luna, things were peaceful in the world. It wasn't until the militants rose to power in the Equine Empire and developed an expansionist mindset that Starlight developed a similar mindset.

In the eyes of Starlight, she felt that if she didn't expand Equestria and start taking over other nations and thus, their resources, that Equestria could be in grave danger of falling prey to a larger nation with more resources. Because of this, she scrapped using friendship as a weapon and developed a military, one that would rival the Empire's. By this time the Empire had more technology in their military so Starlight incorporated the same into her military.

Equestria would be the first to start to expand when Starlight's forces flooded south of the Isthmus of Equestria to take South Equestria. When Premier Stormchaser saw this, he knew the time to expand had come and he sought to expand the borders of his already large nation even further. His first target was Saddle Arabia because of the resources it had. His invasion was quick and completely unexpected by the Saddle Arabians. Their forces were able to take everything in a matter of six months before setting his sights south to the continent of Zebrica.

He would not be the only one to set his sights on it though. Starlight too had her eyes on it and sent warships off to the east. The zebras then were facing two foes and were outmatched severely. In the end it wound up being Equestria conquering the western part of the continent while the Equine Empire took the eastern half of it with both sides heavily militarizing their sides of the border.

While Starlight's forces were invading the Zebrican continent, Stormchaser sent forces to the west to conquer part of the South Equestrian continent and thanks to weakened forces, his forces were able to take over part of the continent, the part with the most in the way of food resources.

The Equestrians then set their sights on Kirin territory and began to take over many of their islands. Stormchaser saw this and launched an attack on the islands and with superior forces, were able to take them for themselves. Ultimately the Kirin cut a deal with Stormchaser where he would let them keep their mainland territory in exchange for the islands and protection from Equestrian forces.

The final battle took place in the far south over Neigh Zealand. Starlight's forces quickly took over the two smaller islands while Stormchaser's forces took over the larger island. Skirmishes there along with those on the Zebrican continent and the South Equestrian continent, were causing many civilian and military deaths. This is when Queen Rain Shine XVI of Kirina stepped in and convinced the two to broker a deal.

Neigh Zealand would be split between the two nations with Equestria getting the two smaller islands while the Equine Empire got the mineral rich bigger island. With the Zebrican continent, Equestria would get a good chunk of the western half of the continent while the Equine Empire would get the north, south and east. With South Equestria, Equestria got a good part of it but part of the eastern side went to the Equine Empire.

Now this did not please all. Those on the small islands of Neigh Zealand did not like being cut off by their fellow ponies on the big island and felt that the Equine Empire would treat them better and protests demanding freedom from Starlight's Equestria were common place. This caused Starlight's forces to have to put down any violent protests and attempts at a rebellion.

There were similar instances happening in Equestria's share of the Zebrican continent and the Empire's share of the South Equestrian continent. Ponies across the world think that Starlight should just surrender her part of the Zebrican continent in exchange for the rest of the South Equestrian continent and the small islands of Neigh Zealand. Stormchaser is completely open to the idea but Starlight believes that Equestria would be getting the short end of things and refuses to do so. Many fear that ultimately Starlight's forces will try to take the rest of South Equestria but she knows that if she were to do that, another war would break out. She feels that there has been enough death over the decades and doesn't want to see more.

So this is where the world stands at this point. Many hope that ultimately Equestria controls all of the west and that the Equine Empire controls the east but until a new agreement can be reached, it won't be happening.
