My unceremonious return is heralded by the call of a Science Fiction contest! I thought it'd be fun to participate, so I'm here polishing up the last few chapters of my new 6 Chapter fic Victory: Premonitions, in the hope of bringing my rusty skills up to snuff for some much bigger projects yet to be released! It's been a bit harder than I anticipated, as the super-condensed nature of a 20 thousand word fic has proven to be quite the creative restriction, but I've really been liking the results of the five chapters I've finished so far. I'll be finishing them up, revising them, and editing them for publication here over the next week or so, with the overall plan being to release them all sequentially before the deadline of the 6th. I don't really want to cut it close on this one. Most of the story is done and what I've got mostly just needs polish.
Hopefully some people enjoy it this time, though the limited feedback I've received so far has been negative. This time around I don't think I'm going to let poor reception scare me away so easily, though. Even if this entire site hates every word I type, I've currently just resolved to getting these story ideas out of my head and keeping some record of them published somewhere for the sake of my own personal sanity. Premonitions is an exception to that rule, being designed largely to get me into some kind of groove for much more complicated tasks that are still before me. Once it's complete the plan is to immediately start work on another short story, in the Fallout Equestria Universe next time. The bulk of what I'm going to write is going to alternate between that and the Victory universe as I work on an interwoven series of stories I've been planning for years. However there should be some outliers as well, stuff from the FiM universe that I've previously discussed with friends and have been stewing over for a decade. So it won't all just be about the apocalypse and science fiction.
In any case, those are my plans. We'll see what comes of them but, for now, I'm just putting my head down and working on pumping out these chapters before the deadline. It's been real interesting so far! I can't wait to see it all come together!
