Greetings, everyone. This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today. This evening, I will be reviewing The LEGO Movie from 2014. This was amongst several movies that I thought about giving a watch someday, and just last week, I was able to see this film online so that I can see clearly why this movie was so loved and adored by a lot of people. After watching it with an open mind, I have to admit.......it was absolutely amazing. Seriously, I was amazed at the writing, the story, and the characters that were portrayed therein. You want to know how it was amazing? You really want to know? Of course, you do! It was amazing in the sense that it subverted my expectations and opened my eyes to a certain degree. With that said.......I FUCKING HATE THIS MOVIE!!! 😡

How in the everlasting hell is this movie funny? It tried so damn hard to be hilarious whereas in every aspect in which the characters uttered a joke, it fell flat on the ground and was rather poorly delivered. This movie is not funny, and neither is the main protagonist himself.

Speaking of which, this guy—Emmett Brickowski—was just lame. In my opinion, he was so poorly written that the very premise tried so hard to make him a very “important and special” person. His lines were cringey, his personality was lackluster, his character was annoying, and his overall demeanor was rather bland. Chris Pratt voiced him? Well, he did his best but his character was still very unbearable to sit through. Such a shame that Chris Pratt has become a meme lately which made me not take his character too seriously.

The other actors were just wasted in this film: Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, and Will Ferrell in particular. I hate their characters with a passion due to the atrocious writing in making them unfunny idiots. Not once did I laugh at any of their lines. I guess my sense of humor is different from everyone else’s.

President Business (one of the stupidest, laziest names I’ve ever heard in fiction) was a try-hard, pathetic antagonist. His last-minute redemption made absolutely no sense since there was no evidence or hint that he had any redeeming qualities while being a hammy villain. “Friendship is Magic, Joker!” Yeah, well, I see no friendship here at all.

And AGAIN, this film suffered from the same old Batman from The LEGO Batman Movie voiced by Will Arnett. I’m sorry but I despise Will’s take on Batman because his version has a fake-gravelly voice, edgy personality, dumb humor, and his overall selfish character. A complete disrespectful homage to the Dark Knight and by far the most awful iteration of Batman. I cannot stress this enough.

The ending of the film had the human element added therein which is the worst part of the whole movie for me. That means that the humans govern the LEGO world and anything that is added or taken away, that is what follows and goes by. It took away any remaining respect I had for this film up until that point. Why add humans into this? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

Overall, this movie can be summed up in two words: unfunny and stupid. It tried so hard to be humorous that it’s not even funny at all. Thus, I have no interest in watching the sequel. I give this a 1/10.

Peace.

Waste of film. The video game wasn't any good either.

To be honest, I like this movie. So I don't see the problem

At least this movie wasn’t some needless cash grab about a bunch of idiotic aliens trying to capture cartoon characters who recruit a basketball player to come help them, I’ll tell you that.

Oh Primus, please give me Space Jam. I prefer that movie over this shit. GIVE ME SPACE JAM! I BEG OF YOU!

No. And I’d sooner take the Paddington movies than receive another headache from the trash known as “Space Sham”.

This is what I love about you. Your headstrong opinions remind me so much of myself.

Can I ask you a question? I know you said you dislike this movie, but what about a video that pokes some fun at it? Btw, Charlie Day is in this movie. He voices Mr. Spaceship.(I don’t know the astronauts actual name.)

If you want to share it, go ahead. I need something that can at the very least shit on it.

I hope you find this semi-funny.

That moment where a YouTube poop is funnier than the actual movie. That ending part where Business kicked Emmett off right after the latter gave a Steven Universe type of speech is what should’ve happened. That was gold!

The special effects were incredible. I mean, they had Will Ferrell giving a restrained and dignified performance--how much computing power did that take?

Glad you hear you liked it and that it wasn’t the YouTube equivalent of stepping on a lego. Personally, I liked the scene with Mario getting his mustache ripped off.

For what they were worth; I like these as although it's through programming, you could almost build everything in there in person
