Well, that was strange... · 9:56pm Dec 7th, 2012
Just got back today from a trip to my parents and not only quickly got outed as a Brony without any drama, it turns out they were kinda expecting it...
While they already knew I was an equine fur, I could not guess their reaction beyond that. We already had the CSI furry freakout 2 years ago with a looooong talk about the truth, so this time was a surprise.
They have permanent custody of my 9 year old neice. Their little Pegasister was so excited I was going to be there this week because in my last trip, 2 years ago, I drew her a Pony that turned out to look just like FiM ponies.
Before I knew it, I was openly sharing my MLP song and video collection onto the family computer. Mom and dad were quite floored by "The Garden", "Daddy Discord", and "Or we can fly" being done by fans. My neice wanted herself and a friend drawn as pegasus foals.
This soon led to a ponified family portrait of her, my parents and myself. My parents will be framing the originals and hanging them up.
Our enjoyment of a cartoon and desire to participate in a community of like-minded fans really has nothing to do with anything else.
That CSI thing... yeah... if only we could pretend that never happened. Much like what they did to furries, media will only ever seek out the dark side of a fandom, as they did to bronies at the start of the whole fledgling community that started to rise. I wonder when the CSI Bronies episode will occur where one tries to go CUPCAKES on a former lover....
Gosh that was a great read, you have awesome parents lol I have my nephew got hooked on MLP and he's always singing the songs. Cool thing is he was totally against it because his friends thought it was gay. I never asked him to watch, but as I sat there chatting with my friends watching Hurricane Fluttershy, he just sat down and began watching it with us, never said a word. Next week, he'd just quietly sit by and watch and comment about stuff things he didn't understand about the ponies. His favorite is Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie btw.
It's nice to see ponies bring families together more. He long since stopped talking about shooting games, enjoys playing Lego games, and seems to have found better friends at school that enjoy the show. If you knew what we dealt with, that's saying a lot. So nice to have a show that isn't so full of one-liners and cheap gags. Who'd a thought it'd be ponies would make such a great family show? (I didn't expect that when I was watching it back during Boast Busters lol though, it certainly had me hooked!)
Anyways, great story there! You should totally share the picture someday XD

Thanks! And the story about your nephew was cool too!
I'll be posting links to the pics once I get scans of them in and post them on Deviantart. ^_^
Sweet. I wish my mom was more understanding of it. My brother teases me a little, but just in good fun. Can't wait to see that pic .
Awe, that's an awesome story!
My family knows too (well, immediate family). I don't have an awesome story like yours or Telaros, but I don't have a bad one either. Looking forward to that pic!
Oh, and thanks for the fave on "Love and Tolerance". Happy new years!
