    Good news?

Good news is, I'm actually making some writing progress this week, on a commission that's been outstanding way too long.

Bad news, that's because with my car in the shop, not much way to do the delivery work that's been taking up my time!

    New Side Hustle

So, I'm still doing GrubHub delivery, which remains as exhausting and soul-crushing as usual (if not moreso sometimes, given the way their tech will now take jobs away while I'm stuck in traffic with no options!) It also does quite the number on writing time, though I think I'm getting the gears grinding a little more on that all now!

Finally! I have support options again

Well, I've finally gotten my SubscribeStar profile approved, so if anybody wants to toss a couple of bucks my way through that, you can get early access to my projects, or even help determine what I work on next, depending on how much you feel like tossing in! Also, access to a Discord where you can talk to other backers, and listen to me brainstorming and running off at the brain.

The Root of All Evil · 3:47pm Oct 13th, 2021

So, I get it - times are tough. My household is on a mostly fixed income. The flexible part of our spending comes from running deliveries for GrubHub. Unfortunately, that means that my car is both pretty much necessary, and put through a lot of miles of in-town driving.

A lot of miles. "My poor, beleaguered, yet ultimately faithful steed Lobo is barely 6, 7 years old (2015 Scion bought in better days), but has seen the mileage of a 15-20 year old workhorse" lot of miles.

While I've done my best to keep the poor guy properly cared for (most of those are highway miles from before I was running deliveries), there comes a day in any car's life when he just needs a lot of pampering to keep going.

And that pampering gets expensive. Not sure exactly how expensive yet, but I find that out tomorrow (and will update the project then). Brake drums, suspension, engine parts, ventilation/AC/heat - and the combination of high curbs and the low clearance on a Scion have made a bit of dental work necessary too, as his bumper is a bit banged up and pulled off the clips that hold it firmly in place.

And he's still on loan too. Big reason I can't just get the poor guy a new body and call it done.

I've tried to save what I can for it, but we all know how the last two years have gone for everyone. So I'm hoping that those who have things a little better right now might be willing to chip in a few bucks. I'll figure something out, I always do, but a little help could go a long way.

However, if you're looking for a bit more in the way of remuneration for your help, I also am open for commissions, as always - $10/1k words, half after an outline is agreed on, half after the project is delivered. Just DM me if you're interested in a commission. And I've just jumped on the SubscribeStar bandwagon too, though I may well tweak the tier levels - this is just first drafting, and actually still under review.

Update for anybody reading this: I've gotten numbers, and I've got to pull together 5k for the repairs, and would *like* to pull together the additional 4k to clear my loan out. So, if you want horse words, I've gotta write about a million of them to make that work, so I'm still open for business!
