Just confirmed I'll never be a published author · 9:48pm Oct 12th, 2021
Since I burned out my list of literary agents, I went to publishing houses that accept unsollicited queries. Thought I hit the jackpot when I saw 4k+ publishers. Checked the ones open to submissions: 305. Checked through the list who was for sci-fi and fantasy. 12. Of the twelve, only four were actually open.
That's it then, I guess.
Can't self-publish because that's too expensive and requires significant social presence.
Sucks to hear my dude

Yeah. Eleven years of constant writing and training.
Shit, sorry to hear that man
did you try those 4 yet?
5595197
Not yet, but I can guarantee they'll not respond or say no.

Perhaps I'm being defeatist because I've already been depressed for so long. I'll send everything now and be patient. I waited twelve years to get Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door.

yeah. it's easy to assume they'll say no... but there's always the chance they'll say yes. It's always 50/50 in these situations. Maybe you're right and they'll all say no, but at least you will have tried and put your foot in the door. and if those 4 say no, there's 8 others you can try when they open for submissions.

Fair enough. I was lied to about novel length, though. I'll have to add to my dragoness story to reach at least 80k words. Not hard. I'll just add what I did in book 2 so it starts out more properly.
Dang

They said no.
