Greetings, folks. Welcome to yet another Disney Friday review coming from yours truly. This evening, I will be covering the not-so-popular Disney movie called Home on the Range. Now, before I begin talking about this, here is a brief explanation of my history with the film: when I was a kid, I watched the movie’s trailer several times prior to its release in 2004. However, I couldn’t give it a watch until around my early pre-teens. Around that time, I watched it for the first time, but I never really payed much attention to it since it was pretty much boring to me. So now years later, I was rather interested in seeing it for the second time since it’s been so long to the point where I couldn’t remember every thing that happened in the film. Just earlier this week I rewatched it...........and it sucks.

I’m not even kidding. This movie fails in every aspect in being a charming, well-written, and entertaining Disney film. In fact, it doesn’t even feel like a Disney movie! Where is all the magic these other classics have? I don’t think it is boring by any means, but it is definitely poorly written along with its insipid plot, bland characters, and lackluster voice acting.

The story is about an infamous outlaw who is stealing all the cattle by hypnotizing them with his “yodeling” singing and wears a disguise to purchase all the land properties for his own personal gain. Okay, how exactly does hypnotizing cows work? How is it that the rangers and cowboys were lazy and complacent when it comes to protecting their livestock? That’s way too convenient for the villain to make his move to steal their cattle.

Speaking of whom, Alameda Slim was a lame, generic villain with a stupid villain song in the beginning with no intriguing background. I feel like he was trying too hard to be an interesting antagonist.

Do not get me started with his annoying nephews. I hated their voices, their dialogue, their brainless, one-dimensional personalities, and their atrocious character designs.

Continuing on with the story, Pearl’s land—Little Patch of Heaven—is about to be sold out in less than three days whereas she has no money left to keep her land and her family of barn animals. It is up to three cows of different temperaments to save their land by capturing Silm. The reward for capturing him is exactly $750. Guess what? That just so happens to be the exact same amount Pearl had to pay to keep her property. If that isn’t an example of plot convenience, I don’t know what is.

The main characters aren’t even that interesting or appealing in the slightest. Maggie, Calloway, and Grave have only one dimension and were rather underdeveloped as characters. Grace falls more in the latter category since there wasn’t a single moment dedicated to her to develop more as a character and grow. She remains the same. The same can be said for the supporting characters who were just annoying background protagonists.

I will say that the animation is beautifully made. The CGI models incorporated into this were fantastic as well. Still, this film is cluttered with unbearable humor such as the unfunny belch jokes and the inappropriate sexual innuendo.

The dialogue is so cheesy that it smelled even worse than Swiss cheese. Not to mention the corny milk and cow puns and cliche after cliche. Gosh, it almost made me want to hate this movie.

Oh, and I couldn’t believe Alan Menken composed the music for this movie. I’m sorry but the music here was so unappealing and underwhelming unlike the musical scores he did in other movies that are better than this mess. It could have been so much better.

The only vocal performances I enjoyed were those of Steve Buscemi as Wesley, G.W. Bailey as Rusty the Dog, Charles Dennis as Rico, and the late Lance LeGault as Junior the Buffalo. Besides that, the other voice actors/actresses’ vocal performances didn’t appeal much to me.

Overall, this movie is nothing but a garbage pile full of bullshit that stinks under the sun for three days. Thus, I give it a 3/10.

Mooooooooooo 🐄🐄🐂 I’m outta here.

Whelp, I made a mistake.

I’m not surprised by this in the slightest. With only a few exceptions, you’ve pretty much made it clear you’re not a Disney fanatic.

Maybe it´s because I´m biased due to I watched this movie at a pretty young age, but I actually like this movie as a kid and I still think it´s cute, but.... let´s just say it´s not a disney masterpiece :rainbowlaugh:. A treasure planet was definitely better.

That reminds me, in the dvd there was an extra were they did these kind of jokes. I had a vague remembrance of it as a kid but not so long ago I found the video and.... I got bored so quickly :rainbowlaugh:

Say what? Unless it was a scene between the cows and the bulls, then I don´remember (then again it´s been ages since I last watched this movie.
