Let's Talk About Ed Edd N Eddy · 8:48pm Jul 25th, 2021
When I first started working on Restoring A Great Loss, The Death of Harmony, and Apparent Trilogy I didn't think they'd be all that good but quickly realized they could be great stories about redemption. Which inspired this blog so to speak, a while ago I did a blog talking about the top 10 funniest tv shows and forgot about one that I wanted to put on the list. So to redeem myself I'm making a blog about the said show Ed Edd N Eddy one of my favorite shows growing up. While it was one of many original shows that made Cartoon Network a household name this show quickly stood out with it's well developed and memorable characters, dialogue that was as unique as it was quotable, and some of the absolute funniest slapstick you will ever see in a cartoon. Seriously the physical humor in this show is on par with Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes.
The story focuses on the title characters trying to make money by scamming the other kids so they can buy jawbreakers and getting into all sorts of mischief and adventures. As funny as the slapstick is the humor can also come from the characters like many great shows the comedy comes from their personalities bouncing off each other. The name main characters personalities are so different.
Ed-Lovingly simple without a sense of hygiene but also strong and kind not to mention random.
Edd-Everyone calls him Double D to avoid confusion and is sort of Ed's opposite very intelligent with a rich vocabulary while also weak and a bit germophobic and while nice can be pushed to his limits.
Eddy-The unofficial leader loud bossy stubborn and greedy but deep deep deep down cares about his friends.
The show ran was meant to end on it's 4th season ending with them being old now just remembering when they were kids but got a 5th season which changed a bit as Summer finally ended and the kids returning to school and would eventually end with a TV movie The Big Picture Show. After a mystery scam that is hilariously never revealed the Eds are on the run from the other kids to find Eddy's big brother so he can protect them. It's a great cat and mouse story that has everything great about the show and even some character development along the way. It was one of the best finales a show can get and a fitting farewell to Peachcreek and all the kids that live there as well as the parents that never seem to notice or care what they're doing.
I think that about covers it but what do you think? Was there something else about the show I should have mentioned? What's your favorite episode mine is the one where Eddy tries to film a home movie and of course everything goes wrong. Leave it in the comments below.
