Hi there.
So, I thought I'd take some time to talk a little about The God Empress of Ponykind and some of the things that I did when writing.
To begin with, Celestia being the God Emperor came to me when I was preparing to do a play. I don't remember what exactly drove me to writing, it just kind of came to me. Things kind of fell into place afterwards, but it was still kind of weird.
A good chunk of my influence comes from a different crossover fic (sadly, it had nothing to do with ponies). The fic? Hammerhand by Colonel-Mustard1990. For those who want to know what they're getting into first before clicking the link, it's an AU to the Mass Effect series where Shephard dies on Horizon and is replaced by a squad of Space Marines (the sequel involves an Imperial-class Titan fighting Reapers). A lot of the scenes from the Imperium in Chapter 2, and Celestia's dialogue in the first few chapters, were influenced by how the Space Marines in Hammerhand spoke.
The sequences in the Warp are based off of The Dreaming (which actually is kind of like the Warp, but not really) from It's A Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door, one of the first (and, in my opinion, one of the best) Ponyfics I ever read. The idea of using different colors for different characters when speaking, and shifting to present tense, all that is based off The Dreaming.
The Hearth's Warming Eve sequence is based off of A Brief History of Equestria, which portrayed the founders as more than what wer saw in the show proper. Also, it's an amazing bit of history for Equestria, and it contains a couple of shout outs to 40K in some of the chapters. I recommend that you all go read it.
