Forgot to mention... · 6:33pm May 23rd, 2021
Remember that computer that was acting up? I was just realizing that I never mentioned what I ultimately did about that, so I'm doing that now.
First, while I didn't absolutely need to, I bought a new case for it, because I didn't really like the old one.
Then I bought a new motherboard, an ASUS Prime B550M-A Wifi one. Of course, this was an AMD motherboard, and my old one was an Intel one. I basically decided to just go ahead and get a new processor as well, instead of trying to find one with the same socket that suited my needs. This one also had wifi built in, which was nice, M.2 slots, same type of memory, and so on.
I also grabbed an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G cpu. Maybe I'll get a faster one eventually, but it seemed reasonable.
Transferring everything over went mostly fine, except that I had to improvise a little on where one of the hard drives went in the new case. And Windows thought it was a new computer. Fortunately, telling it "no, this is still this old computer of mine" wasn't too difficult.
I got that all set up and working a few weeks ago. Forgot to blog about it, though. Since it's been a few weeks, obviously no reoccurances of my issues, not that I expected any.
Today I went and radically rearranged my bookshelves on fimfiction, and just combined some, because "Cute, Funny, and Feels" covered so much that it was really my main favorites anyways...
At least your computer is back up and running again.
Hey, Glad you got it sorted out — no more problems, I hope!
