D- (a terrible episode with badly written characters and butchered moral)
F (horrible and unwatchable)

Hello there, everyone. Here is my review of Mirror Magic, the third and final episode of the television special Equestria Girls: Magical Movie Night. While it was definitely a bit better than Dance Magic, this was by far the only episode that contained both a few redeemable elements yet had a stupid ending and a rushed villain reformation. I had the unfortunate pleasure of watching that spoiled brat of a villain again—Juniper Montage—and see her ranting and grumbling over her punishment from last episode despite it was her fault in the first place.

Oh great, she is probably the only EG antagonist that gets to be the bad guy for two whole episodes. Why did the writers felt the need to bring her again? Isn’t one episode enough for her?

Anyway, this episode seized the perfect opportunity to introduce Sunset Shimmer to none other than Starlight Glimmer herself. I’m sure that must have caught the fandom by surprise when they finally met. To be honest, it was kinda interesting they meet up like this; I mean, they both had a very rough start, were former villains, became close friends to Twilight, and have become a part of a main cast of characters respectively. So they’re basically twins in a way when you think about it.

The voice acting was great, and the story was merely average at best. However, things completely fell apart during the climax.

Aside from Juniper’s terrible demon form design, the entire “fight” was embarrassingly cringeworthy and utterly ridiculous. Starlight kept carelessly handling the corrupted mirror to avoid Juniper’s attacks (was the glass really that fragile?), Juniper was barely a threat, and worst of all... Starlight reforms her. 🤦🏻‍♂️ She is instantly forgiven even though Sunset and her friends nearly DIED inside the mirror and despite the previous actions she had done. Even Pinkie realized how completely forgiving they were!

Oh, and why did Starlight think she needed a friend? Juniper never once felt lonely or expressed any need for friendship, and that is literally what you thought was the solution, Starlight? You didn’t even know her that much, and you’ve only been in the human world for like what? A couple hours? Friendship is not an answer to everything in the world, you idiot unicorn. All she ever wanted was attention and recognition—being a movie star. NOT a friend!

This was incredibly dumb and repetitive. Oh, and don’t worry, you will see more of that in the next special episodes of Equestria Girls—along with more redundant, rushed, poorly executed reformations. C-

Wow, this overall special Magical Movie Night was mediocre at best. The only one I like is Movie Magic; at least there, Juniper gets what she deserved. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my review of Forgotten Friendship.

Peace.

This is the only series episode I saw. I liked the Sunset/Starlight meet up. Plus their names sound similar.

It's weird how unstable the magic is.

I’m pretty much still waiting for your reviews on the remaining episodes of MLP: FiM’s 9th season. Particularly the review for “Daring Doubt”.

On the subject of your review on this episode, I will say this:

I honestly thought it was a great episode, and a fitting conclusion to the thirty minute trilogy of Equestria Girls episodes.

Buddy, remember when I said this?

So those episode reviews will be covered in the last half of May.

If not for the boring climax and the rushed resolution, this special actually could've been the best one of the whole triology.

Also, there really should've been more scenes of Sunset and Starlight interacting with one another.
