Kindle Vella adopts some Fimfiction style tools · 10:00pm Apr 13th, 2021

Amazon is introducing Kindle Vella, a way for authors to "publish serialized stories, one short episode at a time." This includes some Fimfiction style tools like publishing episodes (chapters) one at a time, Thumbs Up (thought Vella does it one an episode basis rather than a story basis), Favs on stories, and Author's Notes per episode.

According to Amazon adds serialized-story option called Kindle Vella on Fussy Librarian:

Readers will start the story for free, then use tokens to unlock future episodes.
Authors will, according to Amazon, earn 50 percent of what’s spent on tokens that unlock episodes of their stories, but, as Gaughran points out in his tweet, there isn’t further detail on the token system.

It will be interested to see how successful this is and what authors try it out. Fanfic authors with a following who are used to producing a regular stream of chapters in an ongoing story should have an advantage on a platform like this.

On the one hoof, Amazon, so potential monetization for aspiring authors.
On the other hoof, Amazon. :pinkiesick:
