A fighting game franchise where combatants from different realms enter a tournament and fight each other to the death for the fate of their respective worlds. The series has a reputation for high levels of graphic violence, including, most notably, its Fatalities (finishing moves allowing the player to finish off their defeated opponent).
By far, the most popular character in the entire franchise is Scorpion; an undead ninja who can summon the fires of hell during combat and pull his opponents closer to him by using a chain with a spearhead attached to it. Also, every time he pulls an oppoenent closer, he shouts his iconic line, "GET OVER HERE!"

I highly recommend that you check out the animated movie, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. You will clearly see what the tournament is all about, and what started the fierce rivalry between Scorpion and a warrior with ice powers named, Sub-Zero.
