If schools are telling their students not to watch 13 Reasons Why, then why are they making them read Romeo and Juliet and make a book report about it? Doesn't it romanticize suicide as well?

I've never watched 13 Reasons Why, but from what I can tell, the difference is that Romeo & Juliet firmly establishes that its titular lovers' suicides were the needless consequence of a tragic misunderstanding.
Romeo and Juliet is a comedy
I do believe the message was as the first guy said that they didn't need to die, if only their families would have not fought they could have lived happily and because of their foolish actions two parents had to lose their children.
