What a fantastic way to end a wonderful trilogy!!! Folks, as I watched this masterpiece, I didn’t know what to expect from it at all. Usually when it comes to the third installment of a series, it often comes out as underwhelming, disappointing, or even near-perfect. But this one... this is the first time in my life I was actually blown away by a third film. The ending was unlike any other movie ending of a trilogy I have watched; that may seem as giving it too much credit and praise (The Dark Knight Rises’ ending is another example of an emotional, perfect ending), but the climax was just—I’ll explain at the end. Here is my review of Night of the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

Larry Daley is now trying to have a more close relationship with his son who has grown up to be a young man. He tries to find ways to improve his relationship with him and realizes he’s being a little too hard on him. I love that this film gives him more room for character development not just for his son but also for his friends at the museum. But with a new danger presenting itself, he must work with them to resolve the imminent danger which threatens the lives of the exhibits.

Technically, this movie doesn’t have a villain although a new character starts to become one halfway through the movie... by the name of Sir Lancelot. I thought he was very interesting and his motivation in being angry and stealing the tablet was very understandable as he always wanted to achieve his goal. That was until he realizes that he was an exhibit and that there was nothing in reality that represented his world. I think the writers did a great job with him, and Dan Stevens did very well portraying him as such.

When I saw Cecil and his comrades on screen, I was so surprised and happy to see him again after so long. In my opinion, their cameo appearances were pure fan service which brought warmth to my heart. It’s also sad that Mickey Rooney was in a wheelchair until he died in 2014. Again, may he rest peacefully.

Likewise with the great Robins Williams... the actor behind Teddy Roosevelt. This was his last film role before his untimely death in the same year. During this film’s production, the director said Robin was crumbling since he went through a depressing cycle in his life. He often doubted if his role truly meant anything or if he was doing it wrong, but Shawn Levy kept encouraging him to remain confident in his unique and valuable role. So this film really made me sad seeing him for one last time. If it weren’t for his flawless performance, this movie would have been dull.

I did not expect to see Ben Kingsley in this movie which makes it all the more perfect and amazing. He always brings his own unique acting style and humorous personality in any film, so I really enjoyed seeing him here as Merenkahre.

The acting was fantastic, the story was so emotionally executed right, the soundtrack is great combined with the same themes from the first movie, and the humor was amazing especially with the newbie Neanderthal acting like a child to Larry. Of course, Tilly was very funny and had great moments.

The ending had me in tears. I’m not kidding... I actually cried during the ending of this movie. I can’t think of any other way to end this trilogy other than Larry saying his personal goodbyes to his dear friends and not having to see them for a long time. Even sadder, he was not with them when the exhibits were dancing again without him and having a new night guard. That really hurt, but that’s just how life is. It was really realistic when it comes to saying farewell to your friends you've been with for a long time... I’ve experienced that myself long ago. THAT is how you teach a valuable lesson about friendship!!! THAT is how kids should learn!!

THIS is not how you do it.

This film deserves a 12/10! I have never given a third movie such a high score. It is my personal favorite out of the trilogy and a fantastic way to end such a beautiful series.

Oh great, now I need tissues. Somebody send me tissues before I cry again!!

I've seen this one only once. I may need to give it another look if I can.

(By the way, who knew we both loved something related to night guards dealing with things coming to life at night? I just realized that)

Rest In Peace Robin Williams.

I agree.

This movie has a better lesson about friendship than MLP’s “The Last Crusade”, and it has a greater sense of realism.
