I hate complaining, I hated waiting, I'll pay for patience · 5:46am Jan 27th, 2021

But I hate to pay a bill

I got my review back from Equestria Daily finally after submitting in late December last year, they weren't kidding saying it was going to take a month minimum.

The story was rejected on the grounds of editing mistakes, the same mistakes that were pointed out when I submitted Waiting For You. I'm definitely in need of a dedicated editor, because even after several months (split across 2020) of revisions there's still plenty of basic editing mistakes that went over my head because my revisions focused mostly on fixing the flow of the story.

But that's also the problem of trying to bring a story that's been written over the last 10 years up to speed, because I even noticed in my own revisions just how my grasp on writing had evolved over time. The story becomes less stilted and begins to flow a lot more effortlessly the longer the chapters go on, but that's also because the story has evolved alongside my skill as a writer.

I'm a littler nervous of how the story is going to be perceived in the upcoming PresentPerfect review, but even if it's not recommended I'm still going to be glad for it because reviews like this help me get outside perspectives on it, perspectives that aren't so personally invested in the success of the story so they can see things like basic editing mistakes that I'm not able to see because I'm more focused on the story as opposed to the story's presentation; if that makes sense.

However, I feel that's how it's going to be with this story for a while, like trying to restore an old junker car. You're going to take a lot of hits before you finally land, so I guess going down that same metaphor just keep telling me what I need to fix, I'll fix it, and then we'll see what problems are left down the line.

We'll get this car started eventually.
