Chapter 3 Part 6 Up! (Jan 16th) · 11:50am Jan 16th, 2021

It's a bit early in the morning for it, at 0340 GMT - 8, but I did just spend the past seven hours after work banging out writing on this story, so if I don't post it now you might not see it till after noon. :twilightblush:

This chapter's trial was a difficult affair. As you can see from the part, Pinkie Pie was never the blackened for Fluttershy. She thought she was, but she wasn't. Who is it? You'll have to wait to find out. Balancing out the mystery for this chapter was not easy, either in planning or in the actual writing. But more on that once the rest of it's posted.

So... I finished Chapter Five. In its entirety. I was not expecting to manage that before the weekend, but I did. To quote Rarity, I was "in the zone" after work and just poured on through. Chapter Five's trial is, naturally, the longest so far in the story, though not by MUCH. It's also the most intense, for... reasons. But I'm hoping people will love it, at least once they've read it all.

This means all I have left to write for this story is Interlude 5, and then Chapter Six. Chapter Six is going to be the toughest to write, naturally, since it's where we finally get some ruddy answers. One of the unfortunate things about the Danganronpa formula is the way the sixth trial ends up being a huge infodump and takes forever. I'm going to try to avoid that. I don't like padding. I don't want to pad this out. I want the ending to feel finished, and not overly inflated. And there's still some last minute things I need to work out re the exact details. I've known the rough flow of this for the whole story, but as with any stories details, it fluctuates with every new bit of writing. And I always seem to surprise myself with sudden things I wasn't intending but make perfect sense once they emerge.

I swear sometimes it feels like my writing is less writing and more chipping away at a block of stone until I see the story underneath. Or like it writes itself. Or maybe that's the sleep deprivation talking. In any case, enjoy!
