Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J here presenting to you a very special collab review put together by yours truly and my good friend ScorchingFlamesInc . Both of us have watched this fan-made MLP IRL series directed by Pecach Pictures and Shmed Productions on YouTube for a long time and have both decided to review this series together. Also, in light of the fact that the sequel series called “Earth to Pony” was cancelled due to COVID-19 and the toxic fandom, it strongly motivated us to give this a shot. I will be covering season 1 whereas Leo will talk about season 2 on his page while we assist each other, so make sure you give him a follow. Anyway, enjoy our first collab review!

The first season of Pony Meets World is actually very interesting and entertaining: When I first saw the season premiere, I was immediately intrigued to see how they would further handle the series. I don’t exactly remember when I first watched the series, but it was probably around two years ago or so that I introduced myself to it. Throughout the whole series, I deeply enjoyed it all the way through. I will talk about the first season whereas my good friend ScorchingFlamesInc will talk about season 2. So here are my thoughts on season 1 of Pony Meets World:

1). First off, the main character (and director) Joey-O is portrayed as a human character who fairly much represents a realistic reaction of any Brony or non-Brony who has watched the MLP: FIM series. Plus, he was very well-written in terms of realism, his relationship and interaction with the pony characters. I liked his transparency, upfront attitude, and his calm and collected demeanor whenever he tries to solve a problem. I honestly like him more than Jared.

Speaking of which, Jared was... okay at best. Although I don’t like his weird personality that much, he wasn’t too terrible as a human character. The other human characters were okay as well. I especially love that Doctor guy earlier in the season. His accent and mannerisms made me laugh!

2). The way the ponies—Mane Six, Derpy, Luna, and Celestia—acted in this season were fairly done right. Honestly, the lines they recited from the actual show itself were actually clever in a way that was relevant to the predicament Joey and Jared were. I definitely loved the way they used Celestia and Luna in the season. The voice actresses for Nightmare Moon and Celestia were definitely top-notch and well done. They were also in-character in helping Joey and Jared without becoming too confrontational and annoying.

3). The green-screen animation for the pony vectors and audio clips as terrifically well accomplished. It almost seemed like they were real in the background and on screen. The sound effects were done fine and the story was very interesting to follow.

4). The way Joey has his first interactions with the ponies both at his home and in Equestria was just... both hilarious and intriguing. It almost made me imagine how I too would have reacted if cartoon ponies came to my world (although I’m not a fan of MLP: FIM anymore, I still couldn’t help but think about it). After they part ways during the season finale (sort of), it’s almost sad that they are separated. Thankfully, it has just begun before we head into the second season.

Overall, this season is both nostalgic and wholesome for me. ScorchingFlamesInc will talk of the cons of this season, so hear him out. His words will be painted in green.

**********

Alright, now it's my turn. Mr. J has made some very good analogies of the characters, story, and all that. And I too love this series to bits. However, it is my job to point out the cons on here, and so I will do that. Most of these cons are mainly things that can be overlooked, but they're still worth mentioning. I may bring some light and contradict those cons... just because.

First of all, although the characters were good, there were moments in this season where the acting wasn't like what you'd find on Hollywood, and it wouldn't be all that perfect. There would be moments where it would be hard to hear or understand what is said, and you'd probably need to rewind if you wanted to know.

Another thing is that there is a thing or two that isn't explored as much. Nightmare Moon appeared, and soon turned back to Luna, but that wasn't really explored much. We don't know what happened. It just happened, but only for a moment, before Luna returned. Though to be fair, Joey had other fish to fry at the time.

At times, the green-screen ponies would look less convincing than other times. One moment was Pinkie's crying at Jared's funeral. Some of her tail was pixeled out. Though green-screening can be complex, so that can be overlooked. But for the most part, it holds well, and kudos to Joey for giving them shadows.

There are some minor continuity errors, such as the crowd from Episode 3 coming out of the TV to watch Rainbow Dash and then never being heard from again. But this series was, of course, meant to focus on Twilight and her friends, and it would definitely be chaotic if Jared and Joey had to deal with over fifty ponies in their homes. This isn't the only one, but I'll leave it at that. These would mainly be sniffed out if you were nit-picky while watching this, but if you watched for fun, those errors can be overlooked.

In fact, all of these cons can be ignored once you really get into this series. After all, whether you expect it to be good or not, if you have or had a decent relationship with the show and watched this series around that time, this series can grow on you.

Now, on to Mr. J to give the final verdict about this season.
*********

In total, this first season is far from flawless as Leo pointed out, but it is still a wonderful way to jumpstart this great series. If you want to fill yourself with good laughs, this is one of those that will give you a good time since it is filled with hilarious moments such as the way Joey keeps getting knocked in the head by Rainbow Dash and the words of profanity being censored during slapstick comedic moments. Therefore, this gets a 9/10!

Thanks for reading and see y’all next time!
