    I Am Back

Hey everyone. I'm sorry for being so quiet these past few days, but Internet connections were pretty crappy at both the hotel and at the convention, so I figured I'd just save the big response for when I finally got home and unpacked.

    My First Convention

I'd been meaning to put this up earlier, but well, better late than never.

Tomorrow and through Sunday, I'll be out of town - my dad and I are going to a convention over in Beckley. Dad's going to be vending a table there to try and sell some books.

    Thoughts on Harakiri (1962)

Wow. This was a masterclass in buildup and tension. I knew about Masaki Kobayashi's movie before - a scathing indictment of the samurai and the honor code that they profess to live by - but all the same, watching the movie had me hooked from start to finish. :scootangel:

    Thoughts on Galaxy Quest

Finally getting around to writing up my thoughts on this one. I had heard plenty of good things about it from my parents, though I had yet to see it. Finally, we rung in the new year by watching "Galaxy Quest" with dinner.

Obi-Wan reads The Grinch · 11:31pm Dec 22nd, 2020

With a little help from some other characters as well. :raritywink:

Not too much else for me to say, just that I hope this makes some people smile or laugh as we go into the hectic Christmas/New Year's season.

Star Wars and one of my favourite childhood stories? Oh, the life that video gave me! :pinkiehappy:

Cad Bane's voice surprisingly works quite well for the Grinch, not gonna lie.

Glad to hear it! :yay: It was just something I found by luck one day, and I'm forever grateful to have done so.

And yes, you're right. Cad Bane works quite well delivering the character's lines. (Though I must admit, part of me would have loved to heard Corey Burton use his Count Dooku voice. Ever since Boris Karloff, I feel that the Grinch kind of *has* to sound British. XD)

Hehe. Oh god that is perfect. :rainbowkiss:

Ever since Boris Karloff, I feel that the Grinch kind of *has* to sound British. XD

Which is why it still bums me out that Benedict Cumberbatch decided to use a nasally "Americahn" accent for the 2018 one, even though his natural accent combined with his soft but cryptic voice would've fit perfectly. The end result sounded like if Doctor Strange never went through puberty. XD

Oh, yeah. Sheesh... The *instant* I realized that Benedict wasn't voicing the Grinch as a Brit, my interest in that movie died.

I mean, I'm sure it's not a *bad* movie by any means, but really, the trailer just gave me the impression that the movie was trying to play it safe as much as possible, and that's just not to my interest.
