Simp Wars Ep.2, Pt.1: Rainbow Factory by AuroraDawn · 5:36pm Dec 1st, 2020
Now a Rainbow’s tale isn’t quite as nice
As the story we knew of sugar and spice
…
Did I tell you that Rainbow Factory was one of the first My Little Pony fanfiction I read? Okay, to be exact, it’s not the first I’ve read, it’s more like one of the first stories I’ve listened to.
After learning about the existence of the MLP fandom back in late June of 2019, the first MLP fanfic I’ve encountered was MagpiePony’s The Friendship Test, as I have mentioned several times. I listened to a dramatic reading of it on YouTube and ended up getting scarred for days. And after I recovered from the shock of my first contact with the brony community, the next dramatic reading I had selected was Rainbow Factory.
Fast forward 16 months, and I saw AuroraDawn returning to the writing scene as he released a bonus chapter to Pegasus Device, the sequel to Rainbow Factory. It hit the Feature Box, of course, and it also served as a reminder of the two stories I had read so many months ago.
So, with the author’s permission, I set out to let myself and other people have a walk down memory lane through what I do best on this site: writing blog entries.
So I present to you, Rainbow Factory by AuroraDawn.

Now when I think of Rainbow Factory, I always think of it as what the fandom is capable of. On August 14th, 2011, the song by WoodenToaster was released on YouTube. Five days later, the original draft of Rainbow Factory saw its first light, four months before it was officially released on Fimfiction.
And, oh boy what commotion it created.
From the moment it was released, both the song and the story inspired dozens of new artistic creations. Arts, songs, and stories based on the universe were released, such as the spinoff to the song, Awoken, and the sequel to Rainbow Factory, Pegasus Device, which was released on Fimfiction a year after the original. The song by Slyphstorm soon followed, released 11 months after the publication of the story. Ever since then, there has been a steady stream of new works based on the universe, such as the dramatic reading of Rainbow Factory by TheLostNarrator released in 2015, Broken Wings by Koa in 2019, and a Linkin Park parody song done by TheLostNarrator this year.
And it all started from the song and the story released 9 years ago.
As you’re probably aware, the story takes place in a perfectionist Cloudsdale, where not a single pegasus who failed their flight test is allowed to stay. Where those failures are sent to, however, is a complete mystery. Only two things are known: the upper floors of the Weather Factory, where rainbows are made, are completely sealed off from the outside world, and the failures are never seen again….
Scootaloo, now a teenage mare, takes the test with her classmate Orion. She, however, fails the test b̸y̷ a̷̭̣͎̰͋̃c̸͗̆̅͝ͅc̴̤̓̔ḯ̵̙̤͚̭d̴̥̳̖̦̭̺̔̂ȩ̷͍̦̋̀̿̀͊ͅͅn̸̬̠̘͔̗͌t̶̛̳͙̓̉̓̚͝,̶̘̠͋͆́̋́͌ ̸̧̦̫̠͇̪̹̹̯̖̪̾̐ả̸̧̛̙̤͗̀͗̿͘̚n̴̦̺͛̅͘ͅd̴̨̤̤͍̙̼͇̹̒̆̌ ̷̩̥͉̥͕̘͖̔͑́̈̂̂͂̔̕ȉ̴̡̛̼̳͖́̅̋̉͐͊̄̃̏̈͘͠ŝ̵̨̠̯͔̪͎̠̜̯̦͋́͌̽̾͑̌̍͛̔͘͜͝͝ ̸̢̟̠̀̈́̊s̷̨̨̤̗̟͈̔ͅe̸̛̠̲͕͓̠̱̺̝̹͎̹͉̰̦͕̟̣̗̦̽̉͐́̀n̶͉̤̳̞̭̪̖̥̭̹͓͊̇̈̇̀̓̎̈͂͊̈̈́͊̽t̴̖̏̇́̑̇̐͒͒̓͐͛̉̀͘ţ̷͚͍̱̺̞̻̈́͗̊̓̑̎̿̄̈́̂̇̈́͘̕͝͝ơ̴̰͚̮̥̼̿̑̿͊͗̋̀̋̋͋̍̇ ̵̢͖̠̳͙͔̼̹̺̬͕̀̂͆͜t̸̢̼̣̮̫̜̗͔͚͕̯̣̗͉̲͂́̋̒̌̀̾̔́͋͌̾̕͝ͅḧ̷̖́̽̃͑͗̄͒̍͆̍̾̽̆̎͛̓̀͋̚͝è̵͈̠̀̃͆͛̑͋̂͘̚.̸̨̖͎͎͚̹̤̏͐̽̽̑ͅ ̷̨̢̬͉̭̖̘̙̠̳̼̙̲̳̣̱́̏̀͂͊̓͋̎̒̾̔̀̇͒̇̄͘͜ͅ.̴̛̬̟̬̬̱̰̱̺͇̮̎̉̓̎́̈́̿͛͛̿̏̀̆͊̈́̊͛͝.̶̢̻̖̣̗͈͓̣͉̗͔͆̎̐͗͋̎̾͗͒̓̐̄͂̆̅̕͠ͅ
