    Write stories for you?

It's a common piece of writing advice that you should write the kind of stories that you want to read. But have you ever written a story where you're the only person that is ever going to see it?

    Another new story!

"They Just Grew" is a story I started writing on a whim a few days ago. It was basically "Look, you really, really like bigness, don't you Scott? So just write bigness. Forget the how or the why, just make them big!"

So I wrote some big. Enjoy.

    New Story

I posted a new story called "Chained Heat." It's about a guard doing naughty things to a prisoner.

The only reason I bring this up is that it's outside of my usual hyper/macro stories, but I just felt like it. What a world.

Call me for your free reading!

Scarlett Blade recently did a full readthrough of my story "You Won't Remember Me". You really should listen to it. There is nothing quite like being serenaded by such a sensually masculine voice. It's breathtaking. I suggest you try it.

    On remembering

Hot damn! "You Won't Remember Me" not only got featured, it got as high as #2 on the Hot List! I didn't expect it would get as far as it did, but thanks to everyone who enjoyed it!

The next fic I'm in the process of writing is going to be more my usual hyper-tastic kind of flair, with an edge to comedy as opposed to the darker stuff.

    Hope you enjoy it.

Write stories for you? · 1:37am Dec 1st, 2020

It's a common piece of writing advice that you should write the kind of stories that you want to read. But have you ever written a story where you're the only person that is ever going to see it?

Having recently completed the Nanowrimo challenge (fifth year running, go me), I realized that very little of what I actually write down makes it out into the wilds of the Internet. Part of it is because some of what I write is porn -- look, I write smut, and I'm not going to pretend that I don't. But I notice that a lot of this stuff that I write is the kind of stuff that I don't post, because of the potential downvote oblivion that would come with it.

You think the hyper stuff I write now is too big? Try "bigger than all of space-time, into the infinite void of nothingness" levels of hugeness. On the one hand, I don't want to pretend I don't find that kind of thing hot. On the other, I'm pretty sure nobody likes that kind of thing but me.

So, have you ever written a story that you never intended to share with anyone else, even if you were quite satisfied with the result?

Well, I can think of at least one other person...

Oh, this is why. Yeah, I for one would be totally hyped to read that.

I've only partially written stories that I wasn't entirely satisfied with, so, no, I don't really get it at all.

You shouldn't shame yourself for what you're into, though, especially if you're passionate about it to make good writing. And your stuff is pretty good, on the whole. It's not going to have a wide audience, and you'll get a decent number of downvotes, but do those really matter if you make even, like, one person's day? I know you're not the singular person into galaxy sized macro in this fandom, I've seen enough art of it for that. Plus, you should be trying to inspire people to share your niche, appreciate what you do. There's so many weird things that I can nod along to out there because I love the passion someone has for it, and that's hot in itself.

Personally I dunno if it would do much for me, I'll admit, I really like your character dynamics and especially your liberal disregard of consent, and I feel like that stuff starts getting a little lost when you get entities too large to interact with the commonfolk, but, well who knows? I certainly don't since, I don't have any way to judge. I'm curious, at least!

Over the past year I started writing smut stories again that were for me. I still worked hard on them and did them properly but after a while I just uploaded them to hentai foundry cause why not. I was proud in a weird way that I wrote them and wanted to share them.

P.s trust me you ain't the only one that finds galaxy sided hyper girls hot af

"bigger than all of space-time, into the infinite void of nothingness" levels of hugeness. On the one hand, I don't want to pretend I don't find that kind of thing hot. On the other, I'm pretty sure nobody likes that kind of thing but me.

Nah it's a matter of communication: Plenty of people find that sort of stuff kinky, but the problem is once you go beyond any comprehensible frame of reference it's hard to communicate what the characters are actually experiencing, because the language and definitions become ambiguous, with people picturing such abstract concepts differently and usually not the way you intended. It's difficult but still possible, requiring creative descriptive writing to evoke the right response in your readers. Third Wheel and Amethyst Mare do a good job of that stuff on this site, and sometimes Jest, with Changing Aspirations and its sequels, as well as some of their other work. And then there's the classic Corruption of Ponyville. There are other even better writers on other sites I could point to as examples to learn from. Perhaps in a PM if you're interested.

You did an ok job of this in Keys to the Kingdom too, but other works have been a bit less descriptive of what the characters are thinking and feeling, the decisions they make because of that, while still leaving some aspects and characters up to interpretation to preserve the pacing of the story while providing enough context to point the reader's imagination in the right direction.

And outside all that, just write what you want to; don't expect to get internet famous or anything, don't quit your day job as they say. The best writing I've seen comes as a side gig or a hobby. When people are comfortable and in a stable economic situation their minds are more free to be creative, I guess. Setting up a Patreon doesn't hurt, as long as you know you can deliver something on a schedule to keep subscribers happy. But if you've got other stuff going on it may not be worth the added stress.
