New Offprint Event: Offprint Outreach! - And a new non-Pony fic

Here's another blog post about Offprint, the site here to fill the need for a FimFiction-type place for general fanfics and original stories, but without the Nazis and such. It's currently still in a Closed Alpha state, with many site features incomplete, but as we approach the Open Beta in January or February, I decided to hold an event there. Check it out!

Hey, everyone!

This is SigmasonicX, announcing Offprint's first writing event!

As we slowly but surely approach Offprint's Beta release, it comes time for us to start filling up the site. You've all done a great job already, but we would like to push it even further before we open up. In addressing that, I realized that many users here have generally stuck to writing for one fandom, or just dabbled in others, and I think it would be fun to encourage them to expand their horizons. To those ends, we're launching the OFFPRINT OUTREACH event!

The rules are simple:

• Submit any original story or fanfiction for a fandom that isn't the main fandom you write for. For most current users, this means no My Little Pony fanfics.

  • If you can't find the right fandoms in the menu, then list them as “Other”. We'll handle those fandoms later.
• Minimum length is 750 words. There is no maximum length.
• Stories can be incomplete when you submit them.

• When your story is approved, I will contact you on Discord and we'll donate $20 to your choice of one of these three charities:

  • Transgender Law Center
  • ACLU
  • The Okra Project
  • Or another charity of your choice
• This event will last until the site goes to Beta
• Please only submit brand new stories, not ones you published on other sites. However, you can feel free to publish the stories elsewhere after you make them.
• Pending the creation of groups, stories will be added to a public collection run by me.

Offprint Outreach serves many purposes. Aside from helping charities, you'll be helping out Offprint by uncovering bugs with story uploading, providing more story samples we can use to figure out how to handle future site features (like tagging), and expanding the breadth of content on the site. We hope you take part!

You can sign up for the site using the links on the front page, and if you join the Discord server, we'll get you set up pretty quickly. This event will go on until January at the very least, so there's plenty of time to participate and get a donation in.

For my part, I chose to publish a fanfic based on the 2002 anime Princess Tutu of all things! You can find it here.

Look at that bird. Don't you just want to watch a 26 episode anime so you can then read my dumb epilogue for it?

Wait... Princess Tutu is from 2002? I learned about it back in my Chicken Smoothie days, so I assumed it was made in the 2010s.

Yup, it's an old. If you know your anime art trends, it's fairly easy to recognize as 00's at a glance. The 10's is when everything looked more like Sword Art Online.
