Congratulations 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion! · 3:26am Nov 9th, 2020

Congratulations to the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion! Spoilers below for those who may have recorded the race but haven't watched it yet.

CHASE ELLIOTT!

Y'all have been warned. Pictures from my trip down to the Daytona 500 earlier this year forthcoming, all of which will make it blatantly obvious who won. Spoilers, ahoy!

Amazingly, NASCAR managed to get the entire 36-race schedule in, resorting to midweek races and doubleheaders to get all their races run. Back in February, who could've predicted what the world would look like just nine months later.

The backstory is thanks to NASCAR's current format (playoff races), the driver who accumulated the most points over the course of the season (Kevin Harvick) wasn't even eligible to compete for the championship, having failed to make the cut after last week's race. That left it to be decided amongst #2 Brad Keselowski, #9 Chase Elliott, #11 Denny Hamlin, and #22 Joey Logano.

Congratulations once again to Chase on Cup championship #1! Chase and his father Bill are only the third father & son combo to win NASCAR Cup Series championships, joining Lee & Richard Petty and Ned & Dale Jarrett.

Sounds cool!

At least there aren't anymore Confederate flags flying in the stadium anymore.

Junior's a two-time (1998 & 1999) Busch Grand National champion, but as hard as it is to believe, he never took home a Cup championship.
