Here is another small piece of what I have been thinking about the last 2 weeks. This is still an ever-changing Work in Progress... I haven't decided on a lot of minor details, let alone the major ones.
As with everything else I post... If you see anything you like for one of your own stories, or something that gives you an idea, feel free to use it. I would like to know if I helped any though

Creatures of power, connected to the Source of all magic, ruling their lands as Kings, Queens, and sometimes Gods. They are very powerful and have influence over the world and certain things in it, but they are not truly gods even though some of them try very hard to seem like it. But they are all known as gods and goddesses today, so they will be referred to as such. Someone found out the reason they are limited in power despite their direct connection to the Source, is their still semi-mortal bodies can't store and handle it.
Someone proposed that if objects were used as the catalyst instead, far more power could be brought into this world to be used. However, these relics would make the wielder more powerful than them, upset balance, and cause many other problems. So all but two refused, Celestia and The goddess of love wanted to see if they could make a weaker artifact that wouldn't cause problems.
The first was Celestia, who had her special teacup that was meant for personal guests enchanted. It was enchanted so it gave anyone who drank from it temporary access to a small portion of her power and wisdom. This was useful to her as much as it was to who she let use it as she could have more stimulation conversations with them as well.
The second was the Changeling High Queen, now known as the Goddess of love, who helped make the Crystal Heart. The crystal heart was made to allow the Crystal ponies to take advantage of the massive amount of love they had, to protect them when the weather turned cold. In return, the Goddess asked that the ponies allowed the changelings to have some of the love, they agreed.
Someone kidnaped the Goddess of love and ran experiments to enslave the Changeling race. The original reasons are not known at this time. The Changelings were enslaved with the result of the experiment, a pedestal that was made for the Crystal Heart. They lured in 1 of the other changeling queens and 2 changeling kings, then they sacrificed one of the kings to make the pedestal. The only local Queen or king who wasn't killed or kept for experimentation, was the one that didn't heed the faked High Queens summons because they didn't like the ponies, Chrysalis's mother.
A war was started when someone Kidnaped Love and made it look like Grogar did it. During the war, two of the powerful beings died. The siblings, War and Peace were heading to grogar to get her back. Peace was going to try and negotiate first, but if that didn’t work War would take her back by force as she was his on and off again lover. They were arguing as usual, but grogar made a deal with the cult not knowing that one of them was the reason this was happening in the first place. The cult told Grogar that they made the relict using a changeling king, he saw no deception in them because it was technically the truth. While the siblings were distracted, the changelings were forced to attack and overwhelm them with the use of the new relic.
The cult saw this as their opportunity. They pinned the blame of the attack on the changelings and enslaved nearly their entire race publicly. Then they slowly, and methodically stole the 'gods' one by one and locked them away, knowing their bodies would live on indefinitely and painfully on their magic alone. The others didn't know something was up until it was too late. (Side note: Decide if I want to have them capture grogar as well, or have Grogar work with them throughout the story.) The goddess of love died in captivity from the physical and mental damage from the experiments, so they absorbed her magic and put it in the crystal pedestal. However, they took note that without the goddess, the source does not refill the power used, they assume that it goes to find a new host. They vow not to kill any more of the powerful beings in fear of them just coming back.
A thousand years later, the powerful beings are known and worshiped as gods and are thought to have ascended to a higher realm. The cult tricked people into thinking they chose them to take their place. A few know the truth, and soon, many more will as well.
The relics are scattered across the land, being used by individuals in power. Some are descendants of the originals, some stole them, some were lost and found by others. The truth of their creation nothing more than a ridiculous conspiracy bent and twisted with time. But magic has a will of its own, silent but powerful, some call it fate and others call it action and consequence. The users manipulating others not realizing that forces beyond comprehension are allowing the trapped gods, specifically Celestia, to guide pieces into place to save the world before the corruption destroys everything. Every powerful being has a darker side to their magic, a corrupted side that yearns to twist all the prosperity into disparity. That corrupted magic spilling into the world because it no longer has the Gods to filter it.
Twilight velvet, a descendant of the original creator of the relics, ruling over Equestria with the crown of harmony and her husband, Knight Light, and his Conqueror's Helmet. They had two children, Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor. The ruler of the Crystal Empire sent the rulers their best changeling servant when the children turned 18 as a gift to serve them, Cadence. Singing armor is disgusted by and mistreats the changelings and twilight already has her dragon slave spike. Both siblings are spoiled brats and don't know the truth… yet. The world will teach them a few things that will help guide them to who they were supposed to be without the corruption slowly destroying the lands.
Chrysalis got her hands on the teacup that Celestia had made, she wanted it so she could outsmart her enemies better and free her people and maybe even get ahold of the other relics. After weeks of using it, Celestia started to speak to her. It was quiet at first, like the whisper of the subconscious, but eventually got to the point they could communicate often. Celestial told Chrysalis everything, including the reincarnations of the three dead gods, and that they needed some proper guidance to earn their ascension and gain full access to the source. Chrysalis and her allies set in motion their plans to save the world, first they needed to find Twilight, Shining, and Cadence, Celestia knows they exist and that they are all together, but not where they are exactly.
*Around the time twilight, shining, and Cadence we're born, two important changelings were also born. Thorax and Pharanx were just born when the hive was attacked and Chrysalis had to evacuate and move. The two brothers getting taken and taken to Canterlot, this too was no mere coincidence. Twilight and Spike cross paths with a very smart changeling, Thorax. Thorax and Spike are practically twins because they are so similar, they become friends quickly. Before shining starts his secret relationship with Cadence, he meets Pharanx and his love for combat outweigh his hate for changelings just this once. He is immediately impressed and makes him a regular sparing partner much to the discomfort of his parents. Pharanx and Thorax seem somewhat close to the Ruler's children, so free changelings get in contact with them.* That's when Chrysalis, and by extension, Celestia, learns of the twins and changeling servant that somewhat matches Celestia's description of the three reincarnates. She surmises that it's because the twins are close to the relics that their parents hold and Cadence was born in the Crystal Empire near the Crystal Heart. Celestia confirms this and says she wasn't expecting this but it makes sense, the magic can judge and guide them better since it can reach out to them more often using the relics. They both laugh at the irony that the relics are helping the undoing of their users without them even knowing it.
Again, you don't seem to make it clear who the main character was. so who is it?

There are a few. Twilight and Shining are initial main with Cadence Co that will turn to main later. Pharynx and Thorax will have a lot of their own chapters. And a few others in minor.

How to put this... I haven't put any more into this idea yet until I decide how I want it to play out. I only have the past and the present written in the timeline.
This is the best way I can describe it, for now. I'll get back to you if I can put it better.
But I guess the intention is...
Those minor important characters (the rest of the main 6, the gods, the neutral leaders that get persuaded to help, etc...) they get at the very least sections of a few chapters to themselves, or maybe even entire chapters. This is meant to be a VERY long story that tells the story of the world rather than one individual character. Of course, some characters shape the events that transpire more than others so they will have the most focus. For example, Twilight and Shining being the ones who do the most individually will be the focus.

No, that's not what I mean by 'plot'. So, for me 'plot' is you have this character have 'want' and then they search for it, and in the journey, they realize what they 'need'. if you don't intend to tell about this, then there will be no plot for them, their role is just to help with the main character.
