The Elements of Ilvermorny: The (Hu)Mane Eight - Character Profiles

So, following up on the announcement of The Elements of Ilvermorny (something that's been in the works for a while), I've decided to create a post detailing the character profiles of the main cast; a basic rundown of their personalities, their houses*, blood statuses (something I find an unfortunate and oftentimes problematic element in the Harry Potter series, admittedly, but it's a necessary

New fic announcement: The Elements of Ilvermorny Series

Hey, all. I'm making this blog to announce I am embarking on a new project: an Equestria Girls/Harry Potter crossover. Now, I have always loved the Harry Potter books and films; unfortunately, there aren't very many crossovers with EQG, and the few I've seen tend to fall into the same traps that plague the vast majority of Potterfic as a whole. Hence, I plan to do something just a little

News Regarding Starfleet: Magic is Believing

I will not bother with pleasantries or long-winded explanations as to why I'm creating this blog, I'm gonna get straight to the point - I'm deleting Starfleet: Magic is Believing. Primarily for the standard "Old Shame" reasons: it's not my best work, the writing is clunky, long, and awkward (as well as being rather vague), and it feels too dark and edgy for my taste. These reasons can be

New fic announcement: The Elements of Ilvermorny Series · 8:58am Oct 20th, 2020

Hence, I plan to do something just a little different and maybe some would say unique: setting it in America, and more specifically at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; timeline-wise, this series (yes, series - the plan is to follow all seven years of schooling for the girls) is set post-Deathly Hallows, spanning the years 2017-2024.

In terms of tone and style, I'm looking to emulate the pre-Goblet of Fire books in an effort to "get back to the roots" of the Harry Potter series: boarding school adventure/slice-of-life with darker elements in the background. No, I'm not seeking to have the girls undergo a traumatic save-the-world plot like Harry did; that story's been told, and no doubt will continue to be told. I'm just wanting something simpler and stripped down, so to speak. I'm gonna follow a similar, if not identical, pattern to the initial Harry Potter formula (as shown in the first three books) outlined in TV Tropes' "Strictly Formula" page.

-Building up the initial character arcs and plot details during the last days of summer (as you know, in the Harry Potter formula, this was when Harry is at the Dursleys')

-Dragon Corner (the equivalent of Diagon Alley in America); more plot elements are introduced, and the central conflict is set up, introduction of the villain(s) of the story -Arriving at IIvermorny, welcoming feast, and then we follow the girls for a few chapters as they settle into the school year and the slice-of-life elements

-Quodpot match (as in the books with Quidditch, all the Quodpot matches advance the plot somehow)

-Holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas); plot advances further along

-Climax of the plot of the story, the girls manage to foil whatever scheme the villain of the story has

-End of year feast

-Everyone goes home until next school year.

As you can tell, this series isn't following a whole "story" from start to end like Harry Potter; each one (like Philosopher's Stone-Prisoner of Azkaban) follows its own self-contained plot; not to say there isn't continuity, but like the first three HP books it's more subtle, and you can read each book in practically any order.

The first book in the series, The Elements of Ilvermorny and the Hecate Witches is coming soon.
