Nowadays I'm very, very skeptical of new movies- often because my dread is proven correct once the films come out -and I am noticing some possible narrative red flags here that are obvious enough to me. But since the Sonic movie was a decently pleasant surprise despite having the same sort of premise, I'm cautiously intrigued about this one. The Rathalos looks sick, too, but good effects do not a quality movie make.
Though do keep in mind I know jack about the Monster Hunter franchise, other than the obvious fact of the games never involving soldiers from Iraq. And the Isekai trope is done to death in pretty much any culture, so it's kind of an early warning sign. However, I've also seen enough movies committing narrative no-no tropes that used them in a unique way and turned out to be great, so I'mma stick with wary curiosity.
Any Monster Hunter fans wanting to talk/rant about this? I'm genuinely curious.
It's by the RE films guy, so hesitant

Oh god, Resident Evil? That is cause for hesitation.

And his wife is in it again. Atleast they talked to the devs so at least the designs will be right
Well, my take is the same as his:
I don't think it will be good but at least the designs are there and I'll end up watching it anyways to determine if it's any good/bad.

The designs are definitely a good sign, along with a few choices I didn't pick up on at first. This conversation I had earlier on tumblr summarizes my current perspective.
