Hey, everypony.
Well, it finally happened. I got angry enough to begin ranting. Why? Because of this episode. Simply put, I didn't like it, and I still don't like it. I don't like the song, I thought it was pretty generic, Apple Bloom had more wit than Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, and Babs Seed combined when she started plotting against Babs, which was VERY OOC to me; it wasn't fun.
And, unfortunately, I had high hopes for this episode, so I got rather disappointed. Disappointed enough to, rather idiotically, do this: http://toxic-mario.deviantart.com/journal/poll/3298934/
Now, I've recovered from ranting, and I've completely realized a few, very important details.
1. The show is for kids. Always has been, always will be. I'll have to contend with a some 'waving your keys' moments, unfortunately.
2. I do not like our society. After the soccer moms decided to hate against Derpy, (not like it mattered, because The Last Roundup wasn't a good episode, in my mind, to begin with) in my mind, the seeds of doubt were placed inside Hasbro, and boy, they completely showed up in this episode. Still, I don't blame them for that, because I think that they had to, and because it's geared for kids/people who don't know the difference between fantasy and reality. Besides, bullying is a rather touchy subject to begin with. But, because of that, we have to create fiction where we describe things where we don't have to start waving keys. Y'know, stuff that, unfortunately, will NEVER be canon. Oh well...
So, instead of simply ranting, I've came up with a better idea. I've always subtly poked fun at certain aspects of MLP canon in A Diamond in the Rough, and I think this episode in particular might allow me to create a whole chapter revolving around the events of One Bad Apple, in past tense, of course. Besides, I need something to get the old gears in my mind working again. Who knows, I might even upload said chapter tomorrow!

It's always fun to see conflicting opinions about topics of interest.
Concerning this episode, I find it interesting to see why people didn't like it. My biggest complaint was probably that DT served nearly an identical (and in some cases lesser) role to SS, causing them to get overshadowed by Babs (who was much less interesting IMO). For me, that was the big OOC factor. Either way, I ultimately enjoyed the episode if only for the fact that I got something out of it.

Definitely. It's always nice to crack your knuckles and have a nice little debate about things that somebody else and I mutually agree on. And don't worry, I'm very glad you liked this episode. It just didn't appeal to me. It happens.
If you want, I can explain more in detail why I didn't like this episode, but I feel like I hit the main points.
Now, as for your complaint, it is well warranted. Diamond got a great episode in Ponyville Confidential, and this episode sadly proved that MLP is NEVER releasing a CMC/Diamond Tiara episode again. Besides, they turned Babs, a character who had some decent build-up, into a generic mess in the first place, so it's not like her development mattered much. Oh well. I'll be certain that Diamond manages get some nice shots against that episode in my next chapter. She's the perfect mechanism for critique against this awesome show.

I think you might be right about never getting an episode like that again. In the four episodes Diamond's had a speaking part in, she's basically had a different role in each one, With this episode, she basically had the same role as Season 1, which was generic teasing for the lulz. So, in a sense, it's like her character reverted to what it was before. Personally, I was just glad that they didn't make the episode about DT and SS giving Babs "bullying lessons." That would have been about eight steps backwards, and I'm pretty sure I would be right there with you on disliking it. I'd also agree that there's definitely plenty of fodder from this episode for some good writing material. That's probably what I liked most about the episode proper.

Yeah, I agree. They had chances to do something great with this episode, but unfortunately, at least in my mind, they really didn't take advantage of any of them. Well, they did take advantage of one chance...but it was so OOC it gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Apple Bloom's wit should not supersede Diamond Tiara's wit. That makes no sense, MLP. It just doesn't.
Still, I'm glad it was enjoyable for you.

I'm so glad I liked this episode too, because I knew that, based on the concept, there wasn't going to be any middle ground. I was either going to love it or loathe it, and, thankfully, I got the former. Also, I believe the opposite of the potential for this episode is true. They had chances to do some absolutely HORRIBLE things with this episode, and (for the most part) they didn't do those either. There were so many things I was dreading might happen, and maybe I'm just so happy that none of them did that I liked the episode because of it. Still, I can easily see why people wouldn't like this episode whether they're CMC fans, DT fans, or even Babs fans (Although if a Babs fan doesn't like this episode, I think they'll be the most disappointed of us all),
I'm glad to see you're not letting this episode get to you, though. That's exactly the kind of attitude that I like to see in writers on this site!
Keep up the good work! As soon as I get through your story, consider me intrigued about reading that chapter you're writing about this episode.

Yeah, same. We just ended up on the opposite sides of the totem pole. The apple was split, and I just got the bad half.
It definitely could have been worse though, as they only did one real thing to piss me off (Apple. Bloom. should. not. have. more. wit. than. Diamond. Tiara. Babs. and. Silver. Spoon! You can write so much better than this...). Aside from that, it was just a 'meh' episode, which, compared to the rest of MLP, is considered 'bad' for me. Again, I had high hopes for this episode, and they just weren't realized. It happens. I ain't mad, I ain't even disappoint, MLP. I've got faith in you guys.
