EG:DM Final Cancellation · 2:59am Aug 23rd, 2020

Sorry for all those patiently waiting, but I decided to cancel EG:DM for good. I just couldn't get myself to work on it for a variety of reasons. Mainly the fact that the source material just doesn't appeal to me anymore. Trying to get any kind of inspiration from indulging in YGO was next to impossible, with the anime itself becoming too non-occult for my liking, and the game itself just becoming increasingly unfun and just lacking any heart and excitement, let alone how long it takes to just come up with a duel that is both long enough but also exciting enough.

I think the reason why Arc 1 came about so swimmingly was due to just that: It was the first arc: Small in scope, had more options to choose from due to the simple fact that it was part 1. As my friend North Bridge when discussing this on Discord put it:

"Ironically; the bigger the threat, the more limited the direction."

YGO, at least to a writer such as I, is too restrictive in scope. There's the part about having to keep to a formula someone else already put upon it, plus with so many new elements that I feel just strangulate my mode of storytelling.

Again; I'm sincerely sorry for those who were avid readers, but I just can't go on like this anymore. My talents in writing lie elsewhere in other mediums and genres. Plus I just feel like I wasted a lot of time on what was meant to be something fun. It's not fun anymore, therefore I want nothing more to do with it.

P.S. Please no begging or whining to reconsider. I'm just not suited for this kind of franchise as a writer and the more I mull over it is more time wasted I could use for my other written projects and my artistic work.

I understand. Write what you really want.

So... Would asking about Umbral Souls be out of the realm of possibility?

Dude I'm getting back to that.

I agree that yugioh has gotten way to weird. I gave up after ark 5

Seems a shame after doing all that rewriting, but it's up to you. Personally I avoid Pendulum decks when I write my stories

I'll gladly adopt this story if your willing to let me Night-Quill.

I'm not ask you to continue writing this story series , but please don't take it down I like reading it !!

I just discovered EQ:DM and was pretty excited to see more of your work, but I completely understand the feeling of being railroaded by source material.

As for your disenfranchisement with Yu-Gi-Oh, the game after 5Ds kinda destroyed any investment I personally had in it. It doesn't feel like an expression of skill/personal preference anymore, it's more of a gacha where whomever invested the most cash gets to win in the fewest turns possible because they have the newest themed deck.

Hmm, yea. Hit the nail on the head there, mate.

I actually fell out of the series during the Synchro era and it was the Pendulum era that appealed to me again since at that point Arc-V actually put the effort to celebrate the entire franchise from Fusion, to Synchro, to Xyz along with the new mechanic. Now it's just back to the way it was after GX (in my view the best era of the franchise).

Eh, I didn't really go for GX the way a lot of the fan base did. I was a fan of 5Ds though (shockingly).

Xyz kinda were a breaking point for me, and I to this day haven't even watched Arc-V to even try to understand Pendulums
