Weekly Updates: Twilight's Exaggerated Exploits - Chapter 4 · 3:01am Aug 2nd, 2020

Yadda-yadda, inconsistent release schedule. Formal apology later.

En capítulos anteriores:

Twilight decided the best route for safety would be to take Pinkamena to her family home via motor-cart taxi. That turne out to not be the case when they were chased by the masked ponies in a more modern vehicle. After they nearly killed Twilight with a shot of guns the world has never seen before, Trixie launched herself at them. Showing how limited is modern technology against ancient horrors, Trixie neutralized the threat as Pinkamena and Twilight kept their frenetic run through the night.

What will come now of our trio now their pursuers are not anymore? Is this the end of their plight, or only the beginning? The night ends and a new dawn rises. But even under the sun, there are always shadows.

Twilight's Exaggerated Exploits: Midnight Light

Twilight looked at the coat of arms of her family hanging over the library’s main shelve; a bronze owl sitting straight over a turquoise shield, crowded by seven aluminum stars and the legend ‘Per virtus ad astra’.

She remembered how she translated it when she was still a filly as reaching the star through virtue, until her brother, Shining Armor, corrected her. The family’s motto wasn’t about reaching the stars, but about being virtuous. Staying by the righteous path, especially if aiming for the stars.

Twilight sighed at the idea, considering which one would be the righteous path in this situation. Her mind tried to wander through these thoughts, but the slight creak of the library’s door told her she wasn’t alone anymore.

“Well, your new friend is safe and sound in the guest’s room,” Shining Armor entered holding candle in his magic. “When mom and I told you to have some fun, we weren’t expecting you to take it this far.” He placed the candle on the desk and sat down, gesturing Twilight to do the same. “What even happened, Twily?”

Twilight sat down and opened her mouth.

“And please stop that poppycock about masked ponies and cart chases.” Shining waved his hoof dismissingly while closing his eyes.

“Ugh!” Twilight exclaimed, exasperated. “But it is true,” put her hoof firmly over the desk. She already went overt the story twice so far, only to meet her brother’s disbelief. A loud knock interrupted what would have been a third attempt. The siblings turned to a side, towards the picture window besides the desk they sat over.

There, with the pale moon’s light outlining her body, was Trixie hanging upside down, smiling with shark jagged teeth and glowing red eyes. Shining rose up first, putting himself between Twilight and the monster staring down at them while charging up his horn.

“Wait, Shinny!” Twilight pulled him by his shoulder. “That’s Trixie. She helped us!” She pointed with a hoof at the vampire, who just waved back, still smiling.

Shining Armor only rose an eyebrow at her while looking back at his sister. Though he powered down the horn, he stayed between Twilight and the window, slowly reaching for it to open.

“Good night, lord Sparkle.” Trixie greeted him, bowing her head up. “May you invite this humble mare into your household for the time being?”

Shining just stood there, staring up at the hanging pony. “My name is Shining Armor, really,” he corrected, unsure of what else to say.

“Of course, lord Armor.” Trixie looked up at him, this time without showing her teeth despite still smiling.

“Trixie, please come in,” Twilight circled around her brother’s protective hoof. “And I told you to not be so formal.”

“I shall remember to be more casual around you and yours,” she nodded. “But I still need to be invited before entering a home, like you just did.” She balanced herself forward and jumped inside the house, landing gracefully behind Twilight. Trixie looked around her as Shining, still watching over her, closed the window and the curtains.

“Interesting,” Trixie commented. “I remember when that owl didn’t have those stars,” she pointed at the family coat of arms. “Your… father, right?” she ventured.

“Yes,” Shining answered before Twilight could. “When he was appointed as minister.” He took a step closer. “And you are…”

“Trixie Silverlight Lulamoon, at your service” she bowed again, with a more flourished gesture, like an actor at the end of a presentation. “Anyhow, Lad—Twilight, I found some interesting information about our assailants.” She put a hoof back, into her cape, and produced a strange pistol.

“What is that?” Twilight asked, lightning more candles to better illuminate the room. “It looks like a…”

“It’s a volition-repeating pistol,” Shining interrupted her. “Only our military has access to such a weapon.” He narrowed his eyes at Trixie. “Who are you?”

“Just a very close ally to your sister,” Trixie turned around to avoid exchanging gaze with him and looked straight at Twilight. “I’m afraid our pursuers may be in congress with the fine members of our dear guard.” Trixie stopped smiling. “Canterlot as a whole may not be safer than the streets we barely escaped.

“Now, listen here, Miss Lulamoon.” Shining stepped into her field of view again. “Even if I were willing to believe Twilight’s bizarre tale of masked ponies, I will not let the name of our Royal Guard be stained under this roof.”

“Calm down, Shinny,” Twilight put herself between the two ponies. “The lieutenant thought the same when he sent us back to our home.” Twilight took the pistol in her magic to examine it from closer. “And this weapon only gives more credit to that.”

She remembered reading about the double barrel mechanism that it allowed to fire twice in tandem. But she never thought she would be holding one when the Royal Guard had a strict code for their safekeeping.

A new knock interrupted the conversation again. This time, it came from the front door.

“Royal Guard, official business!” Called a mare from the outside. “Captain Armor!”

“Okay, we can settle this situation now.” Shining put a hoof over Twilight’s shoulder. “I had them called after you came in. Between that gun and miss Pie upstairs, this must be handled as an official investigation.” The siblings hugged and he went on to receive the visitors.

The mare who called ended up being orange unicorn, slightly taller than Shining armor, but noticeable thinner, wearing the full armor of the Royal Guard, with a lieutenant crest on the chest plate. After the formal greetings, she entered the house flanked by two other guards, both pegasi and wearing the light armor of the Air Guard, meaning they cam in via flying chariot.

Shining Armor had them come in and accommodated them all in the library. They sat in a semi-circle as Twilight fetched a teakettle and cups. Though she wanted to be in there, Shining made it clear she was to stay at margin of the situation when he called for it to be an official investigation. Reluctantly, Twilight agreed. She went outside the library and on to sit at the living room, followed by Trixie.

“Twilight,” Trixie said as they shared a cup of tea at the kitchen. “Why did you let your brother take over?”

“Excuse me, what?” Twilight sipped quietly from her cup.

“I apologize for interfering,” Trixie cocked her head to a side. “But I can’t help to wonder why. If you don’t mind answering, of course.”

“Well, he is a Royal Guard Captain; he must know what he’s doing.” Twilight put her cup down, still nearly full.

“Eh, I guess we both have different images of what a guard is these days,” Trixie finished her tea by tilting the cup over her head and catching the stream in her mouth. Twilight couldn’t help but notice her sharp teeth again. Unlike a pony’s, her were all sharp, like a caiman, or a bat. “Welp, if that’s the end of the situation, I guess that makes it a night for us, right?”

“Yes, I guess,” Twilight shacked her head to focus. After the night’s frightful pace had calmed down, sleep began to take a hold of her. “We need to rest so tomorr--” And azure hoof cut her speaking. Trixie signaled her to stay silent as her ears flicked over her head. Twilight paid attention too, but she couldn’t make anything out over the soft murmurs coming out of the library where Shining Armor and the guards were discussing.

“The guess room,” Trixie whispered before bolting for the kitchen’s window and jumping outside. Twilight followed her, seeing the vampire crawl the wall of her home as if trotting.

“Miss Pie!” She realized, bolting for the kitchen’s door and running upstairs. As she reached the second floor, the sound of thunder broke through the house. She froze, remembering the same sound that destroyed half the cart that drove her back. Gritting her teeth, she galloped again.

When she opened the guest room’s door, Twilight Sparkle realized the night was still far away from being over. There were two more masked ponies, just like before. One of them was holding Miss Pie with a knife to her throat, while the other was standing over Trixie’s motionless body, who sported a bloodied wound on her neck. A third masked pony came from behind the door Twilight just opened and held a similar gun to her head.

Special thanks to Vexing Vixen, who literally held me at threat-point to be able to finish this one on time.

Yep, that's the general ida.

But he shot her in the neck. This nameless goon of which I've been discarding like 52 pick up actually has a chance to have successfully killed Trixie, a main character and a vampire.
