The US Republicans are Trying to Kill You · 7:31pm Jul 31st, 2020

Do you live in the United States? The Republican Party won't just not save you, they will actively put you in danger on the mere possibility of making their political rivals look bad. Yes, we all had a pretty good idea this was happening, but to have it confirmed? I wonder if we could try them for 150 000 cases of first degree murder. This isn't a case of avoiding the issue, it was intentionally made worse.

Setting up a guillotine is looking more and more attractive by the day...

First of all, I respect your opinion. However those murders may not have been from the republican side in general. Just some republican people that made bad choices.
No, I'm not a republican. But I'm not democratic either. I don't have a side. Yet I still think that this is a lot of stereotyping here. (You tend to remember the word when you're a Slytheryn.)
I didn't see the link, but I assume it probably points out bad choices of people who just so happen to be Republicans.
Not all republicans make good choices. Same goes for Democrats. But just a selective few (or many) members shouldn't affect the whole scale that much. And even if the whole system is wrong, just try to look at their views and opinions from a considerational veiw. Not saying no at first, but instead processing the information, and thinking about what you think is right and wrong.

Hope that you understand that I'm trying to say look at the people and their actions, not their group. If I am inaccurate, then just tell me.

You. Are. Inaccurate.

If you read the article, it basically boils down to some people admitting that the COVID response was actively sabotaged by Republicans for political reasons. This is NOT a case of people making bad decisions and they just happen to be Republican. It's a case of Republicans making an intentionally bad call in an effort to hopefully make a couple Democratic governors look bad. Those 166,000 dead Americans? Those are the 'acceptable losses' for the chance to sling a little political mud. ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX THOUSAND! I'm not exaggerating when I say it's murder. They knew people would die. They intentionally made it worse because most of the people who were currently dying lived in Democratic voting areas.

And I feel justified in blaming the entire Republican party because the vast majority of Republicans in power refuse to do anything about it. In most cases they actively support the unholy load of shit the Trump administration has been doing. At this point you either denounce these rampant abuses of power or you're supporting them through inaction.

For reference, I'm not Democratic or Republican.

Thank you for telling me. In that case, I know that there must be at least a few Republicans, if not many, against this.

Of course there will be some dissenters. No large group will be have unanimous support. But there are a number of factors in play. First, Republicans in the general population openly dissenting from these decisions are a frightfully small minority. In fact, from what I can tell, the majority don't even know these decisions are being made or refuse to believe it if shown. A large part of this is caused by the second thing.

Second, the two major political parties have become like sports teams. There is an actively fostered "us vs. them" mentality. If you're part of a team, you support and cheer them on even if they screw up or aren't doing well currently. On top of that, "them" stops being people and starts being a faceless Boogeyman to be opposed in all ways. This mentality is actively encouraged by the parties because of the third thing.

Third, political parties do not exist to help the people. They exist for the sole purpose of consolidating, maintaining and increasing political power. The larger and more devoted your fan club, the more you can get away with.

This is how you get such support for rampant abuses. The Republicans in a position to oppose Trump may not support what he is doing, but to dissent from the party is political suicide. By continuing to enable him they have literally sold their morality for political gain. As for the general population, continuing to call themselves Republicans, they are implicitly endorsing the situation. And a horrifyingly large percentage are explicitly endorsing it.

Okay then. I respect and understand what you are saying. Also, for your information, I do not know much about politics, but just was confused, thinking you had a byass opinion. I now understand more of what you are saying.

So, sorry to jump on this again, but... it got worse.

That is a PDF download direct off the GOP website. Their support, as a party, of Trump and his actions are now explicitly official doctrine for the next four years. You now either back openly facist doctrine or you oppose the party.

That’s not good.
