Uhhhhhhhhh... - Flickers Progress Update 60

    Not dead.

Okay so, it's been a really long time since I've really done anything. It's a bit difficult to "Get back in the game", so to speak after being away from the story for such an extended period of time.

Regardless, I'm gonna focus on picking up the pieces and hopefully get something substantial done in the next coming weeks.

Uhh... - Flickers Progress Update 59

This is a bit awkward. I intended on working on Chapter 8 last month but, for one reason or another, didn't.

Rest assured, I finally decided to pull it up some time earlier and get something done. And I did. See? I'm a good writer. A consistent, accountable, very disciplined writer. Yep, that's me. Yeah.

Re: On the Nature of the Passage of Time - Flickers Progress Update 57

Well. It's been a roller coaster, hasn't it?

I'm assuming the previous post has given some of you quite the scare, and I apologize for that. Just know that I'm doing significantly better as of now -- much, much better.

Flickers Progress Update 44 · 2:23pm Jul 21st, 2020

I've removed the "Dark" tag and have replaced it with "Romance", demoting the former to being an additional tag within the story's description box.

!!! [Warning: Incessant rambling straight ahead] !!!

Long ago, Romance was still included as a proper tag, but then I replaced it with Dark as plans for the story had changed enough that I felt the story's darker aspects would need to be made clear to the reader, less they get an unwelcome surprise. I would've kept it as an actual tag, but you can only have three of a certain assortment of tags for one story at a time, so concessions were made.

I could've replaced "Sci-fi" or "Adventure" instead, but those are undeniably critical aspects of the story, so, not really. I even thought of not replacing anything at all and keeping it as it was, since romance still played enough of a considerable role to keep the tag. In the end, though, you could say that I had chosen the dark side (ha).

Now, while my thoughts on the matter haven't changed, I think I've found a better way of handling it. Putting Dark in the description instead still serves the purpose of letting the audience know what to expect -- yes, the same can be said about Romance, but then prospecting readers wouldn't be able to find the story as easily if they were looking for that kind of stuff. Yes, this also goes for Dark as well, but unlike the other tag, there are a wide variety of special-purpose warning tags that closely resemble what one would find in such a story, like "Gore," "Violence," and "Death".

I guess Romance has "Sex" too, but I don't think they go hand-in-hand nearly as much.

I would still much rather prefer being able to include both Dark and Romance without having to work around it all like this, but...

Well, I suppose I can understand the reasoning behind the limitation. There's only so many aspects you can add to a story until a select few start overshadowing all the rest. At that point, you have to determine which of them are like that and that of which aren't. Not to say Flickers is breaking the mold here and becoming the exception to the rule -- maybe I'm just missing something major that would easily resolve its tag problem -- but if it is, then I'm one unlucky bastard to have made a story that needs more tags than can be allotted.

Either way, there's only one valid reaction to all of this, really:

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

^yes, i did actually waste precious minutes of my time writing a whole mini-essay on story tags. get off my back

ANYWAYS, the point... where is it...

Oh yea. I stayed up all night and got a lot done for Chapter 7. Because I can. Do I regret it? Nope. Will this chapter be good? It better be, or we'll have problems. Am I going to sleep? You bet your buttocks I am, now good night morning whatever time is an arbitrary, made up concept so what does it even matter day.
