That was apparently a joke that my grandpa was fond of making. Though it was usually in relation to how long he'd been married, so... yeah. XD
But in all seriousness, yesterday was my twenty-fifth birthday. Something of a milestone, it must be said. Was a pretty quiet day for the most part, being a Sunday and all. But still, the celebration was a lot of fun - my parents and I brought in from a favorite local restaurant of mine, we took an evening walk once the heat had cooled off somewhat, and I had a homemade "sherbet shake" with presents.
And it was a good haul this year!
Got plenty of comics that I was interested in: an Aquaman omnibus of Peter David's run from the 90s (where we got the iconic hook-hand Aquaman from), plus an omnibus of Star Wars comics (always great to add to my collection) *and* a omnibus of Witcher comics too! I very much look forward into diving into them in the days ahead XD
My dad got me a copy of The Hidden Fortress - ever since I watched Yojimbo I've been interested in trying more Kurosawa - so that was really great. One of my aunts also got me Spider-Man: Far From Home, which I am quite happy for; I loved that movie when I saw it at the end of last summer!
Another of my aunts *really* spoiled me this year, with a double-whammy in the form of a thirty-dollar certificate (ironically to the very restaurant we ordered dinner from) and a copy of the video game Star Wars - Jedi Fallen Order! I've heard good things about that, so I will definitely be intrigued to check it out in the future
Also on the Star Wars aunt, I got the third of the new Thrawn series books. "Treason". I've really enjoyed the first two in this series so I'm quite excited to see what Timothy Zahn has in store with this latest installment!
And finally, my grandma had a check for me. Which is much appreciated. Sometimes money is just nice.
Though, I'd be remiss to not mention my awesome big sister for last, as she made me a delightful homemade pillow for her birthday gift! It's just adorable, with a beautiful Parasaurolophus stitched onto it, which just tickles my inner paleo-nerd.
So yeah. The day may have started a bit slow (definitely earlier than I would have liked in some regards) but it ended delightfully.
Hope you guys are all doing well too, okay?
Hehe, sounds like an awesome mother lode
