Make sure you know what you are writing about!
If you are anything like me, then there are times when a random idea pops in your head and you use it as a basis for a future story. While this isn't necessarily bad in a broad perspective, this can lead to some poor decisions.
If you want to write a good story on your own, follow these steps.
First, I like to start with a story map. This is where I place all my ideas for my story, from start to finish. Things can change from time to time, but they must be done before you begin writing.
Next, begin writing your story based on how you would like it done. That's the easy part. The next part is to look it over and scan your previous works for things like lack of required details and/or errors. These things will very well be the deciding factor between someone enjoying your story vs those who hate your story and piss off.
This next part is specifically for Fimfiction.
Finally, if you are like me and do not have an editor/you want to get better at making good stories by yourself, then make sure that you take precautions. I like to post a chapter that is three behind the one that I am currently working on. This is to give me enough time and certainty that each chapter is made to the best of my ability. An example of mine is Chapter 8 in my story. I was already on Chapter 10, but around seven needed revisions were needed on Chapter 8 before I posted it. This is because, if I didn't, my story would feel unpolished and overall sloppy if I chose to post it right when it was "finished."
In simple terms, know what you are doing before you do it. It's like a test in the sense that you study before you take it. If you don't, there is a high chance that it fails on your behalf.
I know that I have to come out and say this. Not everyone will like your story and that is perfectly fine. Nothing and nobody can be perfect. Keep in mind that high views doesn't always mean that it is the best. Some people get caught up in that kind of stuff, but in the end of the day, it is better for ten readers liking your story vs thousands upon thousands hating it instead.
Well, that is all for this version of Helpful Tips w/ MCX. If you read this far, then a random package will come to your house and drop off Pinkie Pie brand cupcakes just for you. Unless you are allergic to them or something. Wait, can you be allergic to cupcakes? Is that an actual thing that can happen? This is serious, can you... Blah blah blah-
