Hey, guys. Here is my review of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. If you ask me, the title should be, “Dawn of Shit”. That’s just how terribly written this “movie” is. Yes, even the ultimate edition of this film is crap. It just shows you the full context of how tedious, unnecessary, and convoluted this mess is. So with that being said, let’s get this over it:

1). The characters: If this film had actual good things in it, one of them was Ben Affleck’s Batman. He was nearly the most well-written character of the whole film. I actually like his voice and demeanor as Batman. His voice is much better than Christian Bale’s Batman voice in my opinion. I initially thought he would be terrible in this film, but after watching him, I am glad I was proved wrong. I felt that he was the main character over Superman himself. The moments he had with Alfred were terrific. Secondly, Superman himself was just... meh. The film failed to actually make me like him as a character and he barely did anything to make me like him as such. So because of that, I have nothing else to say about him. Thirdly, Alfred was also really good which was another thing I loved in this movie. The best part is that he was played by Jeremy Irons, the voice actor of Scar from The Lion King. Every time Alfred appeared on screen and had dialogue, I just imagined him as Scar being Bruce’s butler, “It will be done right away, Sir. By the way, have I ever told you that life’s not fair? Have you ever dreamt of being king more than anything else?” I love that guy. Fourth, Lex Luther was just... my gosh, I HATE this version of Luther. Just like how Two-Face was a Joker wannabe in Batman Forever, they did the same thing to Luther in this film. Can they just stop making Joker copycats for once?! Have your villains be their own selves! Plus, he doesn’t even look like Luther. My goodness, I hate this film. Fifth, all the other characters were just dry and bland like used cardboard. Even Lois who was nothing more than a love interest for Superman. Didn’t care about her character at all.

2). The plot: Wow, this story was all over the place. The plot was so convoluted that it didn’t even know where to go or to how properly execute its own scenes. The title is called Batman vs Superman, yet the movie barely focused on their opposite sides and their fight. The only time they fight is in the climax which I’ll get into later. It doesn’t even do “justice” to the subtitle “Dawn of Justice”. Where is the dawn of justice in this film? Anyway, you have both heroes who are misrepresented by the media and are accused of doing certain questionable activities. Thus, they are no longer being seen as good protectors of humanity. But instead of focusing on a good plot and making it into an interesting story, they go through the confusing and generic route of having them go against each other despite the fact they are both in the same boat. What this movie should be entitled is, “Batman AND Superman: Dawn of Justice” This story should’ve focused on their dynamic relationship, how they can relate with each other, and how to work together to both clear their name before the world and defeat their common enemy. You don’t always have to have them fight, fight, fight. It’s no wonder there’s such a division in many fan bases today. Just like how these two heroes fight, you have their own fans fighting each other as to who is the best. But I digress... you get my point.

3). The pacing: The pacing of this film is so bad. Every single scene it has just keeps going on and on... like forever! Additionally, most of those scenes aren’t really that connected with each other. You have one scene that covers a particular subplot then jumps right to the next subplot in the next sequence. It’s badly directed and badly paced.

4). The soundtrack/music: The soundtrack was boring and mediocre. Nothing special or memorable at all.

5). The CGI: I don’t know about you guys, but the CGI was all over the place and a bit too much. Speaking of which, that humongous monstrosity in the final battle? I had no clue at all that was Doomsday. If anything, he barely looked like him. I thought he was some random disgusting behemoth of a creature not-Luther created. That’s just how bad the CGI is.

6). The action: Another thing I liked in this film was the action. As a matter of fact, my favorite scene in the whole film is the warehouse fight. That was epic and awesome. The Superman and Batman fight was actually decent. However, there is one particular problem I have with Batman. While I really like this version, he doesn’t appear to honor the no-killing rule. Throughout the film, you see him go to the extreme such as killing some criminals and also... burning a bat insignia on the skin of criminals?! WHAT?! Since when did Batman burn bat symbols on criminals?! They are not horses, Bruce! It was just so uncomfortable watching him do that in the beginning and end of the film.

7). The Justice League set up: It was absolutely pathetic and meaningless. Wonder Woman didn’t show up until the end of the movie. No, I don’t count her real persona as her either because her character was just poor. The cameos we see of Aquaman, the Flash, and... whoever the heck the other one was were ultimately pointless. It just went nowhere after that.

8). The length: The excessive running time felt like absolute torture. I kept checking the time to see how much of the movie was left. Even if I watched the theatrical cut, I still would’ve been impatient for the film to end because of how poorly done this film is.

9). The humor: I don’t think there’s actually any humor in this film. If there was any memorable joke that was actually funny, please let me know. From what I recall, any attempt at humor was so terrible I barely recognize it as humor.

10). The climax: Last but not least, the titular fight scene. While decent, the very outcome made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. How is it that Batman decided to spare Superman just because his mother has the same name as his mother had? Martha?? No, I’m not hating this scene because “it’s so deep you don’t understand it!”. Bullshit because it is just poorly executed that it’s laughable. Anyway, their mothers share the same name one of whom was in danger of being killed. Batman was like, “Oh, your mom is named Martha like mine was? Oh okay, we’re cool now. Yeah, you’re an alien who had done tremendous amount of damage in our cities that undoubtedly caused thousands of human casualties, but instead of killing you like I had planned to do, I’ll let you go because your mom is also called Martha. We’re besties now!” In fact, why would they create a situation like that? They could’ve just come to peace with each other in a situation that DIDN’T involve Superman’s mom. I get what they were going for Batman to spare him because he too suffered pain and his mother was in danger and saw a reflection of himself in Superman’s eyes, blah, blah, blah... I get that! But the way it was executed was horrible. “Why did you say that name?!” Really? It’s just bad. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION.

Ughhh... yeah, bad execution is everywhere in this movie. Since it has a fetish for burning bat symbols on people in such a horrific manner, how about I burn a tattoo of 3/10 on it? Give it a taste of its own medicine. Seriously, avoid this movie at all costs. Please and thank you.

Peace.

Yeah, pretty trash.

I liked the film though I do wish it was done better for it felt like they were combining superman with the dark knight returns comic.

Not to mention how badly they made doomsday and the actor who played as lex Luther who may have been better as a joker

By far, the worst part of this movie is how it completely butchered both the character of Doomsday and The Death of Superman arc.

I did see how iffy the movie was there.

Have fun with Suicide Squad. I didn’t see it, but I’ve heard of it’s reputation. So... you’re in for a treat, I guess?
