Ideas to help spur the writing process into gear · 2:44am Jun 28th, 2020
When trying to get in a certain mood for writing a specific genre; I highly recommend music.
For example, Pegasus Device and Rainbow Factory are my go-to, in order to allow me to see a grimdark scenario. Try singing along to them or perhaps for a sad fic, you could listen to "The Magic of Friendship grows" if that doesn't make you at least feel bittersweet with pride...I have no idea why you are reading brony fics, to begin with.
If you have writer's block you can try this neat trick. Start writing a spontaneous short fic using that genre's exact opposite...for example comedic for a grimdark writer's block. You get the idea. Why do you think I have so many comedy and sad fic short stories published? Now you know.
Most importantly of all, write what appeals to you. Don't write to please everyone. If it appeals to you, it'll have a stronger reaction from those reading the painfully scribed emotions that take hours to produce. But the reader WILL know. And your effort will pay off. I may not have many followers, but for those that read my work, every single one of you makes me so happy. My readers enjoy my works, what more can I ask for? Quality over quantity
I don't care about fame and as writers, none of us should. Writing is a passion but also an art. And like all art, it takes time and trials and error to master. Don't be upset if you write a few duds. Don't get discouraged; even the mighty oak was once an acorn. As long as you put your soul into your effort, you'll find others take notice.
Anyway these are my thoughts on some writing techniques,
love your idot, as always,

Full agreement. I've had to come to grips over the past 20 years with the fact that my writing style isn't for everyone, so I have to settle for what makes sense in my mind. Even if only a few people like what I write, that's good enough for me.
