I know it’s been a while since I updated this story but I want to assure everyone that it isn’t dead, I just haven’t been as active with working on it.
With that said here’s a preview of the next chapter
Thirty minutes had passed since Twilight and Starlight had begun searching for a hotel to stay in and, despite the lack of help from other ponies, they were able to find one. By now the sun had set and the two mares were beginning to get tired.
Upon entering the hotel the first thing they noticed was the mare sitting behind the front desk. She had a bored expression on her face and seemed more interested in the magazine she was reading then actually doing her job. Even when Twilight and Starlight approached her she didn't acknowledge them but instead chose to continue reading.
"Um, excuse me” Twilight said in an attempt to get the mare's attention.
Finally the mare rolled her eyes and rudely said to Twilight “What?”
Twilight normally would’ve commented on the mare’s rude behavior but right now she just wanted to get a room so that she and Starlight can go to bed so instead she calmly replied, “Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle and this is my marefriend Starlight Glimmer. We would like to rent a room if it’s not too much trouble.”
“Room rental is fifty bits.”
“Fifty?! Don’t you think that’s a bit expensive?”
“Do you want the room or not? If you do then pay up.”
“Twilight, I don’t think arguing with her about this will do any good. Let’s just pay for the room and worry about things later” Starlight said.
Twilight let out a defeated sigh before opening her saddle bags and taking out the required number of bits.
Upon receiving the payment the mare gave Twilight a room key before saying “There you have your room now leave me alone” and going back to her magazine.

The value of a bit was never made clear in the show so I just went with something that seemed expensive.
