me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Been a hell of a ride, honestly. I just apologize for dragging it on for so long.

Now, been putting this off for.... well, a while now. I've simply lost my passion for Wild Access, no other way to say it. Some of you may have suspected this, and if so, good on you.

I think I know why, to be honest. It's... yeah, it's not one of my best stories. Gary sues, hugely OOC characters and it just got... insane. Been thinking this over for a while now, and I would really rather like to approach this story with a new eye. It's... yeah, looking back with more writer's experience it's not a good story in any way I can think of, expect as training of what not to do when writing something. What I would like to do, really, is basically take the basic idea and redo it, with a learned eye and more experience under my belt.

I'll let you know how that works out, if it does at all.

Thanks for the notice. And I get that feeling, there've been old works I've written or begun that I - much later on - look back on and cringe at.

Best wishes with the rewrite, or whatever you choose to do with, alright?

Thanks. And yeah, looking back on older works is a really awkward feeling when you know that they suck.

I know how you feel. I've been rethinking the magnum-opus that I've been doing around here, and I'm really not too comfortable with it right now.

That is sad. I didn’t feel that there where any Gary Stu’s and it was all around a good story. The thing that bit you in the butt I think was you got to grand of an idea and just couldn’t find a way to make it feel like it would be an earned victory for your heroes. Really if you had a partial rewrite removing a few elements things would be able to wrap it up.

Personally the only reason I haven’t ever written any story is I can come up with good basic ideas but just can’t get ideas on how to get from point A to B. Heck I had an idea for a Power Rangers Samurai set in a similar universe, or a sequel in this one, that I just can’t think of how to work out the plot points.

Yeah, see the thing is I disagree. Not with you on the grand scale part but the Gary Stu thing. Robert in his early days was pretty damn next to intolerable and yet got treated as if he could do no wrong at times. Sunset was another Sue, this perfect angel who had no flaws and ugh... yeah.

Here's what I got mapped out. Several team members would get right out replaced. Lightning Dust is... nuts especially given later events in canon and Sunburst is too bookish. He'd work better as the Hayley or something. Zen-Aku would stay though, as a sorta extra hero. Not sure about what I'll do for the theme, but I'd drop most of the legendary Zords and such as it feels like the Rangers never grew into their own powers. Instead, they were playing around in one massive toy box. There's nostalgia and there's going over the top. I'd probably do well to adapt a season that would never get adapted into PR, really.

Yeah, I cancelled my first story when I realized it was line by line copy of Nights Journey into Dreams, but replacing the human characters with Spike and Sweetie Belle.

To counter point on Robert he was by far the most experienced person on the field at the time. He was damn smug about it yes, however he realized his fault before it became an issue and started to change his ways because he knew he had nowhere to go if he blew it. As for Lightning Dust since you butterflied away other things who is to say she did have her head on more straight because of the reasons you gave in story. Sunset has had issues with how she handles power she got burned once and now has a distaste for it. I think if you where to continue from where you are now you can address it because she still hates being the leader and it feels like she doesn’t want all this power she has been given.

5226510
The problem is, he was way too damn smug, not to mention a bit of an edgelord and so many other things. The problem with Sunset, yes I showed that issue but it soon quickly got dropped. Lightning... hmmm, yes well she was an out and out bitch, not to mention despite the herd animal excuse the xenophobia was... ludicrous. Out and out defilement of canon.

Who is to say it can’t come back up for Sunset? By giving Lightning Dust this responsibility you did temper her edges. She couldn’t be a jerk because one of her sovereigns was her leader. She had to wear the mask of jerk with a heart of gold until it became her real face. Look at how she got her honorary little sister, she was trying to pull a Rainbow Dash and well look how it has turned out.

As for Robert yes he was smug because he had all the information and could pass it out at will. He even before he went back to the past had all it going on because of just how extensive his training had been.

I think you over-romanticize, personally...

Pity, I was looking forward to seeing how they take down Serpenterra and Thrax.

Though did you really have to remove both stories? What if someone wanted to go back and read them again cause they enjoyed the concept? The first was completed and the second could've just been labelled canceled with something in the description mentioning a rewrite or something.

Sorry, I was just that ashamed of them really.
