Because I'm a sucker for metatextual fanfiction theory/history.
The funny thing is, I vaguely remember those Bad Ol' Days(tm) of early Fanfiction.net-- though ironically I write more fanfic NOW than I did back then. Hm.
Speaking of which, I figured I'd hammer out another chapter to En Garde! Seemed appropriate to toss in a silly swashbuckler AU while talking about the history of fanfic. Or something. Though for the record I didn't mean for Rarity to flonce around without pants for most of the chapter, but that's just how things worked out. I'm making this up as I go along. I also realized in writing this latest chapter that it'd be really easy (har har) to write this as a clopfic (is it still clop if none of the characters have hooves?) but I decided against it. It's still Rarijacky as all hell, though, 'cause I've got a brand, apparently. Ahem.
But back to fanfic musings-- I probably won't turn this particular fic into 'original' fiction by running a search & replace function on all the names.

Oh my goodness, I used to be on fanfiction.net before I found this website. I am so glad I did, fanfiction.net is honestly the biggest dumpster fire of a community I have ever been part of. Never going back.
