Let's Try This Again, Shall We?

It seems like every time I'm ready to say, "Yep, this chapter is definitely done and I'm 100% satisfied!", I end up just putting my hoof in my mouth. I'm presently on my FOURTH rewrite of Chapter 2 of "Breathe" not because I'm dissatisfied with the writing itself, but because my mind keeps changing its stance on what it thinks would be the best way to kick off what I'm hoping will be the most

    Worldbuilding

Well, I'm quickly coming to the realization that writing a story in the MLP:FiM universe becomes significantly more difficult when your six main characters are 30 lightyears away from Equestria in another star system. Worldbuilding isn't an entirely new thing to me, but keeping things "believable" and in line with the MLP canon definitely poses a fun challenge!

    Continuation

Well, who's ready for a bit of romance? (disclaimer: no, it's not a clopfic. Sorry!) As conflict between Equestria and it's new irritable god-empress escalates, two pegasi, reservedly infatuated with each other, have to find two of the Mane Six (no longer among the living...technically). As if that wasn't challenge enough, throw Black Rose's minions and some determined turncoat bounty hunters

Almost 10,000 Words In · 5:14am Feb 18th, 2020

A bit over a month ago, while conducting my normal night-shift duties as a security officer, I came across a guy enjoying an evening drink of vodka...and more vodka...in front of his apartment. I waved as I passed and he waved me over, offering me a sip of his beverage, which I reluctantly and politely declined.

We started chatting. He had a highly inspirational story to tell about his life, no doubt with one or two alcohol-induced embellishments, and which I won't go in to now as it's not relevant. However, in the three or so hours of enthusiastic conversation, he gave me one exceptionally enlightened piece of advice that I won't ever forget and which I intend to thank him for should I ever come across him again in the future. He told me to keep my phone next to me when I slept, leaving a notepad or word processor app open and that, when I wake up each morning, write down my dreams. "Your dreams are the closest thing to who you are, and your deepest desires, loves, and hates are shown to you." He told me it was essential to write it down immediately, as our memories of dreams fade so quickly after we wake.

Well, I followed that advice, and not a single day has gone by where I haven't looked back and internally thanked that random drunk guy for what he told me. I'm nearly 10,000 words into writing a story here on FIMFiction that I never would have conceived had it not been for a dream I had only a few weeks after he gave me that advice. I have a LONG way to go on this story, but I hope you'll read it when it's done and enjoy it as much I did when it came to me in my dreams.

Just goes to show how much a kid's show about pastel-colored ponies combined with a drunk man's ramblings can change the life of an unsuspecting security guard, eh?

May the wind always rise under your wings,
