    *eye roll*

me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Picard Season 1 Episode 3 Review · 4:24pm Feb 7th, 2020

So, let's get to it shall we? More after the break.

Right, so broken people seems to be a theme in this show. Like, there's Picard and then there are his crewmates. Not sure what the Romulan samurai is like, but I'll lay you odds that he's broken in some way as well.

Now, this was a fun episode, fairly subdued in tone with only one real major action scene. Now, right from the get-go, if the previous episode didn't convince you the Zhat Vash weren't behind Mars... This episode should erase any doubts. The prologue all but outright says it was them. After all, if there's a cover-up, you gotta wipe away all of the evidence. It also goes to show how fanatical the Zhat Vash really are, leaving their own people to die on their homeworld.

shudders

But yeah, broken people. Raffi for example. Spent the last fourteen years as a disgraced wreck of an officer and in no mood to help Picard. Rios, Picard's pilot. Whatever happened to his ship, the Ibn Majid, it's clearly left him a wreck. Now, there's a cute little note that I didn't pick up until after I woke up this morning. He has at least one EMH, and there's no obvious medical bay and said EHM is walking around Rios' current ship with no problems. Seems holographic rights are making headway. I can see Janeway smiling and the Doctor doing this little giddy tapdance of glee, can't you?

Also, my major complaint is well... I will be honest I can't keep track of the characters in the Borg cube subplot. Like, I know Dahj's sister is hugely important but I can't even remember her name. Don't get me started on the rest of the characters on that derelict. Still, happy to see Hugh is doing well. Yes, Hugh. Who better to oversee the salvage of a cube than a former drone eh?

But now, the twin's subconsciously activated her abilities. Her safety onboard the cube is no longer a certainty. If it ever was... Also, they finally had Picard say it. They had him say his other great catchphrase. You know the one.

"Engage!" Brought a smile

Yeah, brought a big ass goofy grin to my face as well.

Lemme know when they get to the episode with the TOS-era Romulan Bird-of-Prey. Seriously, in a time where it feels like they're overwriting all of the classic visuals, do you know how awesome it was to see that in the trailer?

Well, given what's going on so far, I have a feeling Picard will be dueling with that Bird of Prey sooner or later. Probably sooner.

Eh, I find it worth it if only because of the selection of shows. Like, all seasons of NCIS and every spinoff of it, not to mention the originals and Hawaii Five-O's revived series.

Just saying, you get your bang for your buck.
