Y'all got some change to spare for my school's robotics team? (IT'S TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!) (I MIGHT MAYBE POSSIBLY WRITE A SHORT OR SOMETHING IF YOU DO) · 8:20am Jan 26th, 2020
We're kinda short on budget at the moment. I've got a little blurb to share about our team's money troubles first, and then the link to donate is at the very bottom.
When it costs several thousand dollars just to charter a bus to a single out-of-state competition, things start to run just a little dry. I mean, sure, we do indeed have sponsors (thanks btw, NASA!), we still are below what we normally would be at in terms of funding for the team.
Normally, we're able to absorb the extra costs by using leftover funds from the previous year. However, even though last year we weren't able to attend our usual 2-qualifier season, that year was actually when some of our money troubles began. We had some difficulty finding sponsors last year, and though we were able to finish within our budget, it left us with very little to fall back on in case if something like that happened again.
And guess what? It happened again. :P
Now, let's talk about my team a little. We've already prepared a little bit of a copypasta meant for an email blast, but I'ma go ahead and put it up here.
As a robotics club run entirely by students and with the help of adult mentors, we strive to incorporate the FIRST Philosophies of ‘Gracious Professionalism’ and ‘Coopertition’ in all that we do. We achieve the mission of FIRST by providing every student an opportunity to learn, regardless of their background or circumstances.
While we do our best to create an inclusive environment dedicated to instructing students in the fields of science, technology, and engineering, we cannot do it without appropriate support.
Our teams attend regional competitions both inside and outside of state annually. Every competition our team attends requires an entry fee of $5,000 per team, in addition to room and board for competitions away from home. Additionally, each robot built costs up to $5,000. This does not include other costs such as equipment, materials for prototyping, or running a website.
This year, we plan on competing in two competitions - the Utah Regional in Salt Lake City and the Idaho Regional in Nampa. Because we are taking both teams, the cost of entry fees alone will be $18,000.
In order to provide an inclusive environment in which everyone can participate, the Alta High Robotics Club runs entirely on outside donations. Team members do not have strenuous financial obligations to meet in order to participate. In consequence of this, we are seeking donations to support the mission of our teams - to inspire our students to grow in engineering and technology.
If you would like to support our club, please click on the link. You will be taken to a donation page on our website.
Otherwise, please forward this message to your friends, colleagues, and acquaintances who may be willing to support our team’s goals. All donations are tax-deductible, and for any donation above $500 you will receive a W9 form, sent to you by Canyons School District. If you'd like to view the Tax Exemption certificate for Alta High School, then email me at vincent.themajortechie@gmail.com. This certificate includes the school's tax ID number.
