Is taking guitar lessons worth it? Should I do it, or should I continue being self-taught? Help me decide! · 5:05pm Dec 20th, 2019
Anybody out there ever taken a guitar lesson from a pro before? I was considering going in to learn a few new things from somebody who's been doing it longer than me, but then I saw...this.
I mean, I taught myself intent on avoiding situations like that, and I was hoping that someone who's actually had a lesson before can help me decide if it's a good idea or not. So, if you've got a story, be it positive or utterly awkward and discouraging, I would like to hear from you.
Remember that those lesson will be only to help you when you don’t know how to continue., nothing more.
Take a few until you say it’s enough
Maybe try both and see what works best for you
The lessons teach you the "right" way of doing things, but not necessarily the "best" way. Learn the basics from a professional, just so you're starting off on the right path, and then kind of experiment on your own. If you have a PC I would strongly recommend a game called "Rocksmith 2014." (get the remastered edition.) It's got lessons, games, and it even let's you play the real charts to a bunch of songs. It's also available on Xbox One, if that's more your speed.
