A pair show recommendations · 5:39am Dec 1st, 2019
So needed some de-stressing time at work and decided to revert to my childhood and watch cartoons. This one has been on and off my netflix viewing list a few times and I caught an episode that a co-worker was watching and decided to give it a chance.
Final Space carries a surprisingly strong emotional punch for a series I'd dismissed more than once and just another "stupid cartoon" in the same vein as stuff like American Dad or Family Guy. But in some ways it's like Futurama decided that they wanted to take the emotional hits they threw at people and decided to do them every 3 episodes instead. I'm not going to call it deep because it isn't... But that doesn't stop it from punching you in the heart every so often. Also the references are few and handled with class, generally not rubbing them in your face or cleverly hiding them... they're just THERE. Good comedy and you even get David Tennant as the bad guy.
Next up The Mandalorian.
God, it lives up to the hype.
As a huge Mandalorian Fan I'm actually happy. If it 100% true to the lore? Nope, but it's so close and even evolves the lore in ways that leave me satisfied. If you liked Firefly, you'll probably like this. If you like Firefly and love Star Wars? You'll LOVE this. The fact that we have someone who can act and show emotion through armor and a voice processor? Yeah, it's definitely worth it.
And I have a recommendation for you: Letterkenny. So fucking good.

I just have to go up to my mom's place for that. Also yes, Letterkenny is amazing. One of these days there'll be a box set released for it.

My partner from Chicago turned me onto it and I’m so happy they did because it’s such a good show and the humor is right up my alley.
