The Season Finale has aired. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the show we've adored for nearly a decade, is over.

Is it sad? I guess it is. I mean, it was a good show, with lovable (and sometimes hateable) characters, good writing, great songs, and a sort of child-like innocence.

Personally, I think one of its biggest attractions was the world it portrayed: Equestria. Why? Well, Take a look at a major newspaper or news website. What do you see? Most of the time, you see problems. Problems with crime. Problems with pollution and climate change. Problems with bigotry and xenophobia. Problems with other countries. A perpetual pile of problems, growing bigger with every page you read.

Equestria, was, and still is, a "softer" version of our own world. Those problems I just mentioned? They aren't nearly as big as they are in our world, if they exist at all, and the ones that do prop up are easily solved in about twenty minutes (forty if it's a two-parter). And the solutions are always so straightforward: Nasty monster tearing up your village? Crazed tyrant trying to take the world? All you need is friendship...and maybe a magical artifact or two.

Now that the show's over, it's up to us to keep this cute, colorful little world alive.

Get to it!

It's easy to watch the news and think the world is heading down the chute. It's much harder when you pay attention to the actual news. Per capita crime is falling on a long-term basis, as is pollution of all types, actual real bigotry, disease, et al... The real numbers on climate change put human influence well inside the margin of error for the next century. World-wide, humans have never been more free, fed, healthy, etc... Admittedly, we have problems. But on the whole, it ain't bad at all. And we have ponies.

It may be sad, but then, all things, whether good or bad, have to come to an end sooner or later. And I think we all can be glad that the show ended on a good note, unlike so many other shows of our time. If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that I will never stop appreciating the good times it gave me.

And yes, there may still be a lot of problems in this world, but you gotta look at the bright side. May sound cheesy, I know, but if you just keep focusing on the bad stuff, you'll only drive yourself crazy. It's up to our generation to change the world for the better. It would be a dream come true if one day our world could become just like Equestria at the end of the last episode.

So in short, stay positive. I certainly won't be leaving this fandom anytime soon, neither will too many others.
In fact, I'm already thrilled for G5, and even it would turn out as a flop, that won't be the end of us either.
